Was Dorothy really Sophia's biological daughter? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Let's think about it this way, in the photo below Dorothy's real mother . They are both tall, slim, has same nose and hair.

And standing next to her is Sophia's REAL daughter Gina who is small, petite and has the same straw bag as Sophia.

Here's Sophia hugging her real daughter. They even dress alike.

I don't think Dorothy was Sophia's bio daughter. Sophia probably didn't think so either which is most likely why she tore up the maternity test results at the hospital.

But there is at least one episode where Bea plays Dorothy's grandmother and Sophia's mom in a flashback. So Dorothy could just look like her grandma.

^---Exactly. To me Sophia and Dorothy are biological mother and daughter. They even played this up in later seasons in another way by having Gloria also be very tall with a deep husky voice (although I much prefer season 1 Gloria).

That was not a favorite episode of mine, because I hated to think that Sophia wasn't even Dorothy's bio mother. She certainly was her mother, because she raised her, but the thought of babies getting switched at birth is so scary it wasn't very funny to me.

Although it's very rare, that has actually happened in real life.

That episode was so so. Wasnt my favorite either. I just thought it was funny (Nan)frieda claxton playing that part too lol.
