Question Worst recast in daytime TV history?

More points if the character was central to the show and the actor lasted much much longer than he or she should have.

Noelle Beck as Lily on ATWT. While she wasn't necessarily terrible, she just simply wasn't Lily. Also you just can't leave out Charity Rahmer as Belle on DAYS. Now SHE was terrible.

Ditto to both. i was going to say jennifer bradford as Carly on GH. She played Carly for a little bit before they hired Laura Wright.

Oh, Charity Rahmer. Hands down. Noelle Beck could act, at least.

That said, Kathleen Tolan as Mary Ryan on Ryan’s Hope is up there (or down there). She was constantly stumbling over her lines, and it was painful to watch her.

On ATWT, a two-way tie: Susan Batten replacing Allyson Rice_taylor as Connor (mid-scene!) and god-awful Roger Howarth replacing Scott Holroyd as Paul Ryan.

I actually like roger howarth as Paul Ryan. Then again I only watch when he was Paul Ryan, I never did see Scott Holroyd as Paul Ryan

I remember back when Sabine Singh took over the role as Greenlee on All My Children. Fans did not care for her at all. She lasted over a year I believe and then the original actress decided to come back. There was SO MUCH promotion advertising the hell out of it. It was extremely disrespectful to Sabine. The tagline was "The real Greenlee returns". That was basically telling Sabine her work was never appreciated nor would she be remembered as Greenlee. I honestly don't remember her as Greenlee because ABC tarnished her work in the role with those memorable "The real Greenlee returns" ads.

Rebecca who originated the role of Greenlee was a hard act to follow. They shouldn't have given it to an actress who was still new in the business. They should have done what they did when recasting Janet with Robin Mattson. Greenlee was a well established and extremely popular character like Janet From Another Planet. Unlike Sabine, Robin was already an experienced actress so it was easy for her to be a recast on any show and make that character her own. Sabine wasn't that fortunate and instead ended up as a daytime joke by ABC. It appears she let that affect her work in acting since she stopped shortly after the incident.

YES! I found one of the ads that say "The real Greenlee returns" Sabine must have been so pissed and hurt when she saw these back then.
Edit: Not sure why it's not playing but here's the link if anyone wants to see. To me this was the ultimate worst recast in soap history when the network states the original character is coming back with the performer who created the role while the character is already there being played by a performer trying to make it their own.

From "DAYS":

Charity Rahmer as Belle
Beverly Todd as Celeste
Marci Miller as Abigail

Really? I don't think she's that bad. Speaking of DAYS, I just thought of another nominee: Guy Wilson as Will Horton.

Guy Wilson was horrible.

I just don't like Marci Miller. Never have. She mumbles and whispers too much. She has no pizzazz and is so drabby.

i dont think guy wilson is a bad actor just he wasnt will. Chandler Massey is will, his Will was too whiney and it didnt fit the character we knew and love. As for Beverly Todd i didnt think she was bad but again shes not the Celeste we knew and love that is Tanya Boyd thats her character. If they ever bring Celeste back its now and only Tanya Boyd and I really hope she comes back.

Guy Wilson was the WORST! I couldn't stand that guy. His acting style was completely different from Chandler Massey and he (Guy) sucked. I also didn't care for his smug, arrogant, cocky looks. That guy was just horrible IMO.

Actually Mansi wasn't the original Abby but she was the one to play her before Miller stumbled in.

But I agree. I really liked Mansi.

Yes, you're right. I'm forgetting that young girl's name now, but even she was better than Miller. You're right about how Miller mumbles and whispers too much. I agree that she has zero pizzazz and no zip. Also her taste in clothes stinks in my opinion. She is nothing like Mansi.
