In the past, I have started a bunch of threads about the fact that Julie was always my favorite character on this show and how much of a crush I had on her during my growing up years. Another thing that I have done is taken the years that actors and actresses on this series (and other series on other pages) were born and measured their births against other events that happened that year. These other events have included other famous people being born, wars that were fought and special things happening in the world of sports. Well, Lauri Hendler who played Julie from this show was born in 1965. It was a little bit over a week ago that I received as a gift a 40th Anniversary Edition of the film adaptation of the "Sound of Music" DVD. This is one film that I really like! If anyone out there would like to know what musicals I like even more than this one, they can either ask me about it here or send me a private message. This DVD was made in 2005. The part of this reality that a "Gimme a Break!" fan would be interested in is the fact that this movie turned 40 the same year that Lauri Hendler (Julie) turned 40!

I like Grease and Mamma Mia, although I'm not sure how old Lauri Hendler was when they came out.

I like "Mamma Mia!" too. I saw both the movie and the Broadway play. Another one that I enjoyed is "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". |

When I read The Sound of Music, 1965 and Julie I thought this thread was about Julie Andrews.

I can see how that misunderstanding come to be. In any event, by looking at your location, I can see that you are from the United Kingdom. I do not think that the TV show "Gimme a Break!" was ever syndicated there. I would be very interested in knowing whether you are at all familiar with this series. If you are, I would want to know what you think of it. |

That is a very amusing idea! I remember the first time that I heard that song was in the movie "Full Metal Jacket". Last year Saint Barnabas Hospice had a Volunteer Recognition Dinner. They had a D.J. and that was one of the songs that he played! |
