The other day, I saw the episode where Lillith returns from the Eco-Pod and catches Frasier and Rebecca in bed together. Now I know they wrote the Eco-Pod storyline to write Lillith off the show because Bebe wanted to pursue other projects. Why then did she return shortly there after? An even better question would be why did she reconcile with Frasier in the end only to have the two split up again?

Well, I believe she asked to be written off, not knowing at that time it would in fact be the last season. I think if she had known that, she would have stuck it out to the end. So, I think that after she learned they were going to end the show, she agreed to come back for Frasier and Lilith to reconcile, leaving the fans happy at the shows ending.
At the time Cheers was ending, they hadn't had the whole idea for the spin off in the works. I believe they were just trying to come up with a show idea for Kelsey, and then they thought about doing a show solely based on the character of Frasier. Because they wanted to lift the character from all connections to Cheers and its surroundings, Lilith had to go. So, I guess because the marriage was rocky at the end of Cheers, it was much easier for them just to have it assumed they split before the pilot of Frasier. This isn't all factual, just my assumptions. Who knows? Makes sense though, right? |

Frasier: I see. Well, enticed as I am by your honeyed words, I'm gonna need some kissin'. Lilith: Frasier, don't misunderstand. I'm not proposing any change in our relationship. Frasier: Would we sleep together? Lilith: I thought we'd freeze your sperm. Frasier: Is that a yes or a no? Lilith: Natural fertilization isn't practical. I'd have to fly to Seattle every time I ovulate. Frasier: Right, okay. So then, your plan is for me to visit some local doctor, freeze my essence, and then bring it home with you. Lilith: Correct. I'll take mine to go! |

It does make sense and thank you guys for all your input. You're right, I forgot that the Frasier spinoff wasn't thought of until after the show ended its run. Thank goodness Kelsey and NBC woke up and realized that a Cheers spinoff was a much better idea than what they originally planned. An executive(Grammer) gets hurt in some sort of skiing accident and is bedridden at home to do his work. All the supporting characters would have been his servants, secretary and other employees. Lame!
