Maybe They Deserve Their Problems
Been watching my That Girl DVDs of the show once a week in order. But last week I went to the Season 3 New Years episode. In it one of my pet peeves with sitcoms happened, Ann and Don planned on having a nice cozy New Years Evening all alone to themselves. Here's where the peeve comes in, 1st Ann's parents drop in and try to stay, here Ann had some help with her mother who understood they wanted to be alone and tried to force the father to leave after 1 drink. But next thing a neighbor drops in wanting to borrow something, the father then invites her to invite all of her New Years guest upstairs to Ann's house, then they call and invite even more of their friends to come to Ann's. Now for the peeve, WHY, OH WHY can't anyone in a sitcom ever say just one simple little word, NO!!!!!! Ann or if Ann's too chicken then Don should have put a stop to this whole thing the second the neighbor rang the bell then he should have thrown the father and the neighbor out in a heap together. Then Don could get back to more important things with Ann. But NOooooo, they stand around silent and mealy mouthed and just allow everyone to walk all over them.
THis really annoys me when, not just Ann, but generally everyone in sitcoms never can utter the simple "NO."
