Brady Kids VS Cosby Kids

I've seen the commercial for the COSBY reunion, and notice 'Tempest' says nearly the same thing SUSAN says in their E! True Holloywood Story. Tempest says in the commercial, "There are only FIVE COSBY kids in the world." or something like that. ANYway, I immediately thought she swiped that from SUSAN Olsen's statement. Anyway, all these reunions are great, I just wish there will be an original BRADY REUNION. !!

I prefer the Brady Kids and "The Brady Bunch". "The Cosby Show" was basically a black version and a rip-off of "The Brady Bunch". Anyways, I don't find any of the Cosby kids attractive nor good looking. On the other hand, The Brady kids were attractive such as the sexy fox Marcia, the cute little Cindy, ect. Just my thoughts.

Okay, the Cosby kids are NOT a rip off of the Brady Bunch kids! The Cosby Show is alot more realistic of kids than the Brady Bunch in my opinion...and how can u say none of the people are attractive!? Have u SEEN them?...have u seen Raven Simone or Keisha Knight lately...theyre pretty now, and they were cute back then.

What? The Cosby Show was a not a rip off of the Brady Bunch. The Cosby show was funny unlike the Brady Bunch and the Cosby Show was more realistic. Plus The Cosby Show holds the record for being number one. They were the number one show five straight seasons in a row. The Brady Bunch couldn't even make the top ten. And the Cosby show is the most watched show in television history(it holds the record for that) And the Cosby kids are very beautiful, look at Lisa Bonet for instance.

If you compare the looks of the Cosby kids to the Brady kids. The Cosby kids are much better looking. All the Brady kids have gotten really ugly espeically the guys. And look at the lady who played Cindy she has gotten so ugly and heavier. Yuck my stomach gets ill when I look at her.

After viewing the COSBY reunion, I will say that I enjoyed MALCOM's appearance the most. I enjoyed him telling about special scenes between he and Bill, as well as the bloopers. I wasn't a regular viewer of the COSBY'S, and we all have our own opinions. The Cosbys was one of the last family shows on the air. I grew up with the BRADYS, so I guess I'm bias!! It's fun to see all the opinions on here. I still however, am an admirer of Chris Knight's, and NO ONE can argue THAT!! And now I remember what started this whole string! I saw TEMPESTT Say, "There are only four other COSBY KIDS in the WORLD!!" Which is nearly the same thing SUSAN OLSEN said on E! "There are only FIVE OTHER BRADY KIDS in the WORLD!" Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the bloopers and the COSBY stars now., and there's always one bad apple who won't join the reunions. We know who that is, I always thought she was stuck up anyway. Let's Hope for a BRADY REUNION!!

As far as whether the Brady or Cosby kids are better looking today, the Brady kids are a lot older...I mean, even Cindy was born in 1961 (and Barry Williams was born in 1954!), while K.N. Pulliam and Raven-Simone are only in their early 20s (or late teens). Anyway, taking the Cosby Girls one by one, Sondra was pretty, but where the hell did she COME FROM? In the pilot episode, Claire and Cliff both acknowledge that they only have four kids, and then bang! Along comes Sondra (who I thought was annoying as an actress). So much for realism.

Lisa Bonet was very pretty during the early years of the show, till she left and came back with that ridiculously long hair do. I don't even wanna KNOW what she looks like now.

Vanessa had her periods of being cute and pretty during the show's run, until she (or someone) decided to shove that ridiculous afro down our throats. She's calmed down a bit, and is still cute today, I think.

Rudy is very pretty today. But she got rather ugly during the last few years of the series run. In fact, I don't think she was ever "pretty" during the show's run, just cute early-on.

Raven-Simone (who I didn't like when the show was on - see the "Jump the Shark" web site, which says it all) was cute when she started out. But by then I'd stopped watching it. She is very pretty today.

Again, though, the Cosby kids are much younger, in real life, than the Brady Bunch kids. Marcia and Jan (especially Jan in season 5 of the Brady Bunch) were prettier than any of the Cosby girls while the B Bunch was on.

One thing that seems to be true of the kids from both shows...they seem to be pretty well-adjusted as adults... no Different Strokes syndrome with any of them (well, Lisa Bonet is probably the closest any of these kids come to that).

Notice that no Raven Sy'Mone is included. She's the equivalent of Cousin Oliver and a classic "Shark Jump". Whereas Oliver, however, was entertaining during the Pie Throw, Raven was Annoying all throughout the show. Why? She was told by Director to 'act cuter, make that pout bigger' and was prone to say stupid lines that a REAL CHILD wouldn't say (grown up stuff). Also her dancing was PEE-YEEW! Notice that there's No Maid!!! This is obviously fake as the Cosby Show House was Richer than the Brady house (Cliff=doctor and Claire=lawyer > Mike=architect and Carol=what DID she do all day)and therefore the LACK of a Maid Jumps the Shark and is very "UnBrady".

And finally notice that there's only 1 Boy in the family (Theo) that's often made the Butt of Cosby Jokes (not to mention Cockroach). Despite this, to me, he was Definitively Brady as he was levelheaded (Jamming on the One amongst his Classics, similar to Greg's "Till I Met You"/Brady Kids/Johnny Bravo singing career) and made for good public service (His Dyslexia to Greg's Smoking). Theo would have made a decent Greg, w/coolness being a requisite for Brady Grid living.

Now This show can indeed be classified a Brady Bunch ripoff for several reasons:

A: Mathematics (2/3 of Brady Grid is a Quoroum of Majority of "The True Grid Of 9" and by Brady Law, Cosby Show can be said to be a "Grid" of 6. BTW you only need 3 to make a "Grid)

B: Brady Plots in Cosby Show: Let's list a few:

Singing (Candy, Stevie Wonder, etc) vs (Sunshine Day and Johnny Bravo, etc). The Prize goes to Brady Grid Here.

A Heavy Handed Speech about Historical Issues <in Cosby's case>. Witness the Cosby's gawking at the Martin Luther King "I have a dream" speech AS WELL AS the reflective speech Mike makes at the Pearl Harbor in Hawaii where he reads the plaque. Cosby tried to upstage MLK w/no footage of MLK's speech seen on TV; just gawking Huxtables, whereas Mike's was reflective and respectful w/All The Grid Present. This Prize goes to the Brady's in Any Event.

C: Brady Lectures: Righteous vs Cosby Lectures: I Brought You In This World, And I'll Take You Out. (having seen the classic Incredible Hulk ep where David Banner tries to help a child abuse victim makes this Cosby Lecture Very ASININE. Tsk Tsk for Cosby was Threatening Theo here. And I don't care if Cliff was joking; as Carol would say "It wasn't funny".). Definite Brady Copying in lecture but alas it loses something in the style compared to:

Brady Grid.

But OTOH Cosby is Very UNBRADY LIKE in several factors:

1: Rudy. Her constant "Buds' get on my nerves and made her sound CheeseWiz whereas Cindy's portrayal was more realistic (forgiving the Brady Bunch movies which were parodies). She was OK, but Cindy? Righteous.

2: Denise (the opposite of Marcia) was out of character, one minute favoring Marcia in the 1st seasons, and the next minute hanging w/a Divorced Navy Man and:

3: Glory Be The Funk's On Me! A Funky Haircut (jerricurl?). Vanessa of course got an Afro, and the show became a stereotype throughout the later years (naming your kids Winnie and Mandela? SHARK JUMP!) of Black African Living. Early on Cosby Living was more WhiteBread and quasi Brady but alas All Was CheeseWiz to the Marrow That Is Bones.

To me, Good Times (ghetto living based on Cabrini Green in Chicago) and Jeffersons (moving on up) and All In the Family (working class) and Brady Bunch (safe suburban family of the 60s and 70s) are more realistic portrayals of TV Families.
IN Brady Land, there was no stereotyping that could be considered CheeseWiz (Marcia the popular one; Jan the left out middle sister, Cindy the cutie pie) just corny. Corny enough to have become a fabric of culture. Whereas Cosby Living was 'out there' if you know what I mean.

4: Claire. Pretty Un Carol like, sort of like that mother on 7TH Heaven (another Brady Bunch Contender). Witness her "having an attitude" w/the kids and Cliff. She be tripping. Whereas Carol's Attitude was a Positive in Brady Living and All Nations, Tongues, and Kindreds yea yea yea!

5: the way the Maintenance Man (Vanessa's Boyfriend in later seasons) was treated at the Huxtable's House was VERY UN Brady Like. No Blessing was said at the dinner table 1st of all (Thy Bountiful Blessings or such). 2nd Cliff and Claire were snotty and Elitist, thinking that the Prominent Huxtable Vanessa was too good for a Janitor. Yea but Nay! This is NOT Brady Living. In Brady Land, Hospitality is to be shown at ALL TIMES to the rich and poor; to the East and to the Vest!

(and even to criminals like Mike Millard, who tried to take Alice's savings.)

In conclusion, Cosby Show does have some resemblance to Brady Grid Living, but alas it is but a distant cousin to Brady Grid. Cosby stands on its own merits as a #1 Show because of:

First of all, it was not a rip-off. OPr you can say that The Lucy Show was a rip-off of The Odd Couple. And I think you really are prejudice and need a lesson or two. You said none of them are attractive. You're either saying that because you must be blind or are prejudice agains black people. Ever see Keesha or Ravene these days? Compared to Susan Olsen or Maureen McKromick in ther 20's, Keesha and Ravene are much prettier.

I agree with you! I think he's just prejudice too, and I'll just say, it's for more reasons than this one. Do you also think that Halle Berry or Janet Jackson or Jennifer Lopez is less attractive than the Brady kids?

That's very prejudiced. I'm guessing My Brother and Me was basically a black version and a rip-off of Leave it to Beaver? To begin with: The Huxtables had 5 kids not 6. The Huxtables had one son and four daughters not three/three. The Huxtables didn't have a maid. But of course, the Bradys are too lazy to pick up after themselves. (Carol is to lazy to get in the kitchen!). The Huxtables danced to their theme songs. The Bradys just sat there and looked at each other like they had no clue what-so-ever. If you ask me, the Bradys tried to copy off of the Partridges when it comes down to this. The Partridge Family premeired in 1970. They sung their theme song. The Bradys sung their theme song starting in 1970. If you ask me, The Peppermint Trolley whatever was better sounding than the Brady Kids (I guess they smelt like goats). Now I'm starting to compare the Partridge Family with the Brady Bunch since LucyFan is obviously prejudice.

It's definatly Laurie Partridge! I mean who didn't love her lips? I love her lips! She's just way prettier than Marcia will ever be. Marcia had those huge eyes. And it's a shame since when Bradys started she was still a kid. She was like 11 years old. So we saw her whining a lot. But Laurie was matured and was always quick to compete with her bigger bro Keith. So we have Dey who is always found in yur calendar, and we have McKormick who is always found on the spice rack at your local grocery store (like Federated and Safeway).

2)Mothers: Florence "Carol" Brady VS. Shirley "Shirley" Jones
Shirl Jones and Flo Henderson were both born in 1934. So they were both 40 when their shows got cancelled (just spreading some info). We have Shirley P. who cooks for herself, cleans for herself, and sings for herself. And we have Carol B. who watches Alice cook, wathes Alice clean, and she never lifts a finger to help her kids sing. Carol is always reading a book, while Shirley is always reading music. I think reading the lyrics to "I Woke Up in Love This Morning" is way more interesting than Jonathon Livingston Seagull (which is about a seagull who is need of therapy).

3)Fathers: Robert "Mike" Reed VS. Dave "Reuben" Madden
OK you have to admit, Shirley and Rueben were meant for each other. They seriously shoulda dated, and that's why I consider Rueben a surrogate father for the Partridge kids. We have Mike who would kill his kids if they went into his den and took a marker and started coloring in a coloring book. We have Reuben who helps the kids out with school work. We have Mike who gets a new perm every week. We have Reuben who gets a new suit every week. We have Mike who is always making sweet love to Carol. We have Reuben who is always making sweet eyes at Shirley. So we have a kid-killing, perm-sporting, love-making machine and a tutoring, suit-wearing, sweet eye making machine. I prefer Reuben because I had to type in more wrods for Mike.

4)Older Sons: Barry "Greg" Williams VS. David "Keith" Cassidy
So we have Barry Williams and David Cassidy. What kind of teen hearthrob is named Barry? "Ooooh Gregory is so hot!" yells one of the girls. "Oooooh Keith is mine!" yells another. But when they start singing, The Partridge Family supreme gets way more sells than the Bradys do. I mean it's the 70s! Nobody wants songs about sunshiney days. They want to hear love songs. I think that sunshiney days aren't what teenage girls want to hear. Do they have posters of a boy with flowers around him? Or do they prefer a poster of a boy with birds around him? Well David Cassidy (in my little opinion) is far more handsomer and more attractive (I'm not attracted to him) than Barry Williams. Barry copies Mike's jerry-curl so that's a big low. If Cassidy wasn't such a "hunk" why did a girl in my class write "I Love David Cassidy" in her folder? It was around the time The Partridges were on FoxFamily so she musta been watching the reruns. The Bradys have been on for forever and I've never seen "I Love Barry Williams" anywhere! So because of his singing and his hair (his hair is waaaaaaay much cooler than a dried out jerry-curl) I think David Cassidy "Keith" is better than Barry.

5)Middle Daughters: Eve "Jan" Plumb......vs............
Well Jan wins by default here. She has no competition because nobody wants to be Jan Brady. She's a geek!!!! She's a four-eyed geek! Nobody wants to be Jan Brady nobody wants to be Jan Brady nobody wants to be Jan Brady!....sorry had a bully moment

6)Middle Sons: Chris "Peter" Knight VS. Danny "Danny" Bonaduce
Danny all the way. Peter's hair during the mid-early-70s years (1971-73) just scared the bageezes out of me. He looked like Joanie Cunningham when she got that frizzy black hair. He just scares me till it ain't even funny. He had that proper cut in the 69-70 season and that scared me too.......

7)Little Daughters: Susan "Cindy" Olson VS. Suzanne "Tracy" Crough
Cindy was such a brat! I actually hate her. Nothings against Susan but I absolutely hate Cindy! She gets on my nerves with all that irratating lisping! But we have Tracy (who has better sounding name) who is the tamborine pounding girl from the Partridge Posse. Her and her almost silent brother never really got into fights. But that Cindy is always ready to bop someone. Some times I just wanna bop her accross her face because she's so spoiled. I mean the girl is ugly!

8)Little Sons: Mike "Bobby" Lookinland VS. Jeremy/Brian "Chris" Gelbwaks/Forster

9)Vehicles: Brady Station Wagon VS. Partridge Family Bus
"CAUTION! Nervous Mother Driving." is the best TV sign so the bus is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Brady wagon.
