Default Do you LOVE the way the ladies dressed back then?

I don't fancy wearing pearls and pumps around the house, like Helen and Aunt Bea and Clara seem to. But I DO looove the way the ladies dressed!!!

Anyone?

Default Colorized episodes & clothes

Helen's outfits are very elegant. I often wonder how she could possibly afford them on a 1960s meager teacher salary?

Andy's suits look quite expensive also. I like the color of navy blue the suit some of the guys wear.. It's a very vibrant navy blue.

One gets a really notice of these colors that they use during the colorized episodes.

Eek Bring Back the Mini-Skirt, lose the tights esp. for fat ladies

Give me the way chicks dressed in the latter 1/2 of the '60s with those great mini-skirts anytime over those over the knee long dresses of the early '60's. HOWEVER, I do like the way men dressed in the '50's and in the early '60's, I think all men should wear a hat and tie and a sport jacket anytime they step out.

I agree with Hazel Anyday. Miniskirts were heaven-sent. Ladies were free to continue wearing their little white gloves, of course! (And break out the ironing board for that stunning long, straight hair!)

The men of the show dressed well too. Yes, the colorized episodes show it very well. Even Goober looks very handsome in a suit!

Poor Barney. He had one very heavy thick material suit he wore throughout the series. He even wore it in the hot summer.

They gave barney the cheapest clothes they could find when Andy dressed in tailor made quality duds when they went to events and dances.

Lol I'll Take A Dozen of Those Barney Suits

I think it must have been "poor Barney's" favorite suit though. If you've seen some of the movies Barney made after he left the AG Show he continued to wear the same suit and zoot tie in the movies. I don't think it was a case of Barney being forced to wear a big old suit, I think he likes it.

I think they were implying Barney couldn't afford another suit with his meager wage.

When he visited in the color episodes he mentioned he purchased an Italian suit now that he was earning more.

The one suit was his signature suit though for sure.

I always found it odd that so many YOUNG women wore their hair UP...like Thelma Lou and Helen. I didn't realize younger women would wear their hair up so much.

The women of the 60s sure knew how to dress to flatter themselves. A very good point about women's hair being up in some manner. I never thought about it. Even Aunt Bea's hair was schwooshed up and pinned up. A lot of hair pins in all the ladies hair.

I like the poise of Lydia Crosswaithe. The way she sat with her ankles crossed. I am on the search for a lady like that. If you know one, please send her to me!
