It might have something to do with the fact that Jay Durham is now deceased. He died in 2014.

Maybe it's that the statue of limitations has long ago passed. So even though the truck driver responsible for the accident has never been identified, authorities do not want it aired anymore. Hmm maybe the boss at UM Mr.Cosgrove wanted to include these cases where the statue of limitations has since passed, but can't legally

Don't think so-I recently watched one of them where a con artist was operating & at the end it said the statute had passed & she was no longer wanted.

Good point, I know the case of the missing Tennessee pastor George Owens was excluded out and he nor his remains have ever been found.

I may be over thinking here but maybe in some unresolved cases there's background sound effects copyright/licensing issues,an actor in the segment that would have to be paid royalties today(they would go on to become talent agency represented),or their film is damaged and it would be "costly" to further restore. Or even with an unresolved tragedy some of the victims/families have put the ordeal behind them and do not want their case aired anymore.

Someone on the Unsolved Mysteries Official Facebook page asked why the Sheldon Weinberg segment was not aired in its entirety, but was aired only as an update. UM responded that the film for the original segment was damaged and they were unable to restore it. So that could be the reason why some of the segments are not able to be aired.

I'm not sure about Jay's case, it may have been that his family didn't want it aired for whatever reason or the police department request that it not be aired due to statute of limitations. Or it could be possible that the case was solved and we didn't know about it.

I’ve stopped asking why at this point.

Yeah the 'why' seems like a pointless question.
However I'm still extremely curious to find it again.

I'm more curious why they removed segments featuring missing persons/attempted murder (despite some people obviously being dead or statute of limitations being up) instead of the hokey supernatural obviously hoax segments.

Commercial reasons most likely is the main reason & secondly to mix it up variety wise a bit-even though a lot of us find a lot of the miracles, hauntings etc segments laughable there is a huge market for people who are into that stuff-I certainly was when I watched them originally & for many years after. Plus so many of them were shot brilliantly like Black Hope Curse or funny like the Inn one where the ghost was blowing down women's necks, disembodied head appearing on a sideboard etc they are at least entertaining to watch.
