Smile I got a response back from Antenna TV again

Asking them about why Antenna TV isn’t going to last long on WBIN and this is what they said.

We hope to find a new home in the Boston area.
That is the goal.

on other words "don't call us we'll call you". Well I wouldn't be upset. You're not missing much by not seeing them.

When Univision bought the WBIN license, they also gained the right to invoke the “must carry” rule for cable systems. “Must Carry” means that the station can say to the company: we can force you to carry the station for free. The larger stations - the major network affiliates - don’t have to invoke this because they are so desirable that they can charge the cable companies for retransmission. But the smaller stations often use it.

Must Carry does not apply to substations. But WBIN isn’t a substation. Univision could easily start another substation if they wanted to continue to carry Antenna TV. But they’re not going to waste a Must Carry license on it - they’re going to use it for their primary mission (Spanish programming).

Which is ridiculous because we really do not need all these Spanish channels.

Sunbeam, the owner of WHDH (channel 7) also owns WLVI (Channel 56). They sold Channel 56’s spectrum back to the FCC earlier this year. Sometime in the next 18 months, WHDH and WLVI will channel share on WHDH’s spectrum. They likely will only have room on that spectrum for two HD channels (7-1 and 56-1) and two SD channels (7-2 and 56-2).

To me Channels 4 and 38 could be likely candidates, but unfortunately, they are owned by (not just affiliated with) CBS, and they would rather start their own subchannels than affiliate with a competitor like Tribute/Sinclair, which owns Antenna.

56 will still be around. It’ll just be sharing spectrum with WHDH. You won’t notice anything, other than that they’ll probably downgrade it to 780p resolution.

I don't mind the credit crunch to be honest.

I’m the same way. Haven’t watched Antenna TV in two years and don’t plan to ever again. I wish it would get replaced with Get or Buzzr.

Me either. I'd rather have full credits, but we're getting shows like Head of the Class, Hogan Family, Silver Spoons, Benson, Murphy Brown, Alice, and more... can't complain If it was like Logo, the trash network, I'd complain.
