Hi. I am new to the forum. As the title suggests, what's your favourite season from the Robert Stack era? Mine has to be season 1.

Welcome to the boards!
![]() Excellent question! I agree that Season 1 is an absolute classic season. It's probably my favorite, too... I noticed that your posts both asked the same question, so I went ahead and merged them into one thread. I hope that's okay! We're happy to have you!

Welcome!
Season 1 is pure gold. I also fancy season 2 because that is when I first started watching the show in 89-90. |

It's hard to pick between the first three for me (four is okay, but by five, the appeal starts to wane)

The earliest ones are my favorite...I'd say 1-3. I think a large part of that is my nostalgia for my life in that time frame. But they are undoubtedly better than some of the later seasons, even without that.

First Season by far, and a slow decline thereafter. That is both due to the quality of the early cases, and the declining budget for later seasons. The show started to gravitate toward the more fantastic Unexplained cases at the expense of solvable mysteries. And my god, the Lost Loves cases....
It was jarring to go through the Amazon Seasons sets and the sheer amount of skipping around I did due to all the Lost Loves cases. Some people on here groan about the Unexplained ones, there are a number of good ones, but there is no comparison to the 'heart warming' Lost Love cases and how they crowded out the show. |

The Treasure segments don't do anything for me, but at the time they were among the most popular. They would get an insane number of calls when they ran them. It's hard to believe now. |

The first four are as good as it gets. If I was forced to choose, I'd pick season 3.

1-4 for me. 5 has been hit or miss. I'm hoping that once I get to the "revamped" later seasons that I can see some segments I haven't seen in a long time.

I think that the Lost Loves segments should have been spun off into their own show. I appreciate them as a segment of the earliest seasons, while the show was experimenting with different types of segments, but they do seem out of place when juxtaposed with the creepiness and terror of Unsolved Mysteries, which was the premise of the show.
I believe that a Lost Loves show would have been popular, and would still be popular today. There are so many ways to find people now that I don't think we'd have a ton of unsolved segments, but it would be interesting for someone to contact the show and have them film during the search. They could tell the backstory, detail the search, and then film the reunion. |
