I am not sure if anyone started a thread like this before.
Gloria was depicted as having a job in a department store, specifically at the women's-clothing department. It was never mentioned much in the entire run of AITF, not to my knowledge. There was never a scene that I know of in which Gloria was shown at her job. I think she was just someone who helps women find the right size of clothing. There was once a scene in which Gloria came home from work and was telling her mother (Edith) that she had a hard time at work and that it was because sometimes women who are fat think that they can fit into clothing for slender women. It seemed to me that there was slight indication that Gloria worked at Macy's (the well-known iconic department store in NY), but the name of the store was never mentioned (not to my knowledge). There was once an episode in which Gloria was pregnant with Joey and the manager of the department store fired her, or tried to fire her or tried to have her work elsewhere because he felt that a pregnant woman should not be seen ( or something very much to that effect) and of course Gloria and Mike made a scene by gathering pregnant women outside the store and protesting. But there was never any hint that I can recall as to how Gloria began her job at the store. It seems that the beginning scenario was with Gloria marrying Michael and then when Mike was depicted as choosing to go to college Gloria was rather instantaneously depicted as having a job in a department store. There was never a scene showing how Gloria went about getting the job. Furthermore, after Joey was born, Gloria did not seem to be depicted as having a job at all. There was no mention of her quitting her job to be a stay-at-home mom. Anyone have an idea? |

I think the name of the store she worked at was "Kressler's".

She worked at the cosmetic / Makeup counter at Kresslers! When she was very visibly pregnant with Joey, they tried to fire her because she didn't fit the image of" beauty "for the position at the makeup counter, and she staged a protest! I think after Joey was born, she quit and was a stay home Mom!
