Was the actress who plays Andy's girlfriend in the movie the same actress who visited Gomer Pyle in Season 2 of his show?

There was a blonde woman, June Vincent, actually playing a younger Aunt Bee in "Sheriff Without a Gun" in a tight blue dress (Episode 8 from Season 6, 1965, "The Taylors in Hollywood"). I think that's who you have in mind. She was young enough looking to be mistaken for Andy's girlfriend.

No - not the Aunt Bea character in the movie. The Helen Crump character.

I apologize, with a little digging on Imdb I figured it out. they're definitely not the same person.

she looks familiar to me because she was in 7 brides for 7 brothers; which I adore.

I was thinking later that you meant Ruta Lee, whose character spent some time with Andy in Hollywood. She did not play a version of Helen though -- in fact Helen became angry when she found out Andy was seeing her. (She was not in the episode where Gavin MacLeod played Andy though.)

Ruta did indeed appear on Gomer Pyle and many other sitcoms & shows like Hogan's Heroes and The Lucy Show. Later she took a gig on High Rollers.
