Watched OUR MISS BROOKS: “Thanksgiving Show” 2.8 yesterday and the story was about how they only had a Cornish hen (those small tiny chickens) to serve for everyone who kept inviting themselves over. Naturally, no one can ever say no in a sitcom, so they just let people keep inviting themselves. BUT my question is, instead of complaining they had no turkey, why didn't they just go to the grocery store and buy a bunch of frozen turkey dinners, that would have been better than one tiny Cornish hen.
Or, and here finally is the real question, Did they make frozen dinners in the 1950's? Were there Swanson Dinners available in the '50's? I know they were around in the '60's, I remember them, but I was a teeny little Baby in the late '50's so I never bought a frozen dinner then. Were they invented in the '50's?
