I think the funniest scene in all seasons of LITB is Eddie in Captain Drake’s office finding out what he has in store for him on the fishing boat.

Eddie: What'll I do if I get seasick?
Captain Bligh: Don't worry. You'll do it. Eddie: What about when we go ashore in Juneau? Captain Bligh: Go ashore? We don't go ashore! We stay out till our holds are full...sometimes it takes all summer! You're right...this is a classic scene. That guy who played Capt. Drake did a great job, too. |

He was great as the crusty Drake. Love how he looks at Eddie when he asks if he read Two Years Before the Mast.
“What if someone gets a fish hook in their hand?” “Don’t worry we just cut off your hand and use it for bait!” |

You cant hop a fishing boat to Alaska from the Midwest. There goes the theory the Cleavers live in the Midwest.........I stated in a post years ago that Mayfield was either in Washington or Oregon. "Summer in Alaska" makes this even more logical

Another plot hole-ish thing is the all too convenient timing of the boat's departure.
The captains asks Eddie what day he graduates high school. Upon hearing Eddie's answer, he tells him to report the following morning at 0400. Really? An ocean going commercial fishing boat waiting for a deck hand to graduate high school before they can sail? That kid sure has some pull.

Yeah, and Captain Drake didn't seem like the type who would wait, no matter who knows the owner.
I liked his answer to Eddie's question: What do I do if I get seasick? Drake/Bligh: Don't worry, you'll do it. |

Maybe they have several boats leaving at different times. Either way I love Captain Drake he saw right through Eddie.
