Exclamation Dragnet being Remade!

ABC has made a deal with Law & Order overlord Dick Wolf for 13 episodes of an updated hourlong version of the hit police series of the 1950s. Will premiere next season in January 2003 following the end of "Monday Night Football."
-----------------------------------

Well, well, well. What do we all think of this. A remake of Dragnet? How good will the show be without Jack Webb and Harry Morgan? I am really anticipating this revival of a classic. Hey, at least we aren't seeing another movie revival of a show. This may turn out to be a big hit for ABC and have a whole new generation of fans. We'll see this fall.

This I might actually watch. If anything, to see how true it stays to the original.

If there is a God in Heaven, this show will fall flat on its face. I think it will, because there are far more Jack Webb fan's than members of this new "I'll-accept-anything-remotely-interesting" generation. This will be the fourth incarnation of the Dragnet series and the first one WITHOUT Jack Webb. Dick Wolf is no better than those same Hollywood rip-off'ers who cant come up with an original idea of thier own so they steal someone elses. Sweet Jeezus...he already has HOW many Law & Order spin-off's?! And he chose Joe Friday's side-kick because his daughter wanted this particular actor and chose Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill to step into Jack Webb's screen shoes?!?!?!?!? I am FREAKING mortified!!! This is going to be nothing more than another L&O show, ripping off Webb's style, names and general idea. I bet Jack's spinning in his grave, about now. And if anyone here had watched the TVLand program with Dick Wolf in it, last sunday, "TV cops vs Real cops", you would have heard the famous writers, directors and actors of all the famous cop shows ever made, they would have heard the way the very idea of someone attempting to step into Webb's shoes is considered ludicrous, so my bitterness is with good company. I consider it a slap in the face to the GOD of all cop shows - Jack Webb - for ANYone to steal Jack's work and try to make it into something he would NOT approve of!!!! Webb was a straight-as-an-arrow kinda guy, 150% law enforcement advocate and Wolf will add all of todays elements - sex, vulgarity and blatant violence - into it. Would Webb show those things if he were doing this? I give you a resounding HELL NO, he wouldnt!! Not judging by the other shows he has on the air! He's nothing more than a Jack Webb wanna-be with less than a thimbles worth of the talent Webb had, but has plenty of money and connections to do whatever the hell he wants and I'm sick to death of all of these brain-dead, Hollywood rich boys taking beautiful idea's and turning them into the sloth of today!

Grrrrrrr!!

As long as evil Steven Bochco doesn't have anything to do with it, I will be OK.

Dick Wolf makes Bochco look like mother Theresa.

I totally agree with PicklesSorrell. Anything they remake these days, they think they have to dumb down and dirty up.
