Default New PAX Game Show Lineup for 2002-03

Beginning in Fall 2002, PAX TV has slated two Goodson game show revivals, "Beat the Clock" and "Family Feud" to air on the network, joining the hits "Supermarket Sweep" and "Shop Till You Drop." I have heard two reports about "Family Feud", one being that the new Richard Karn version would air on the network (similar to the way "Weakest Link" airs on NBC and PAX). The other version I've heard was that the Louie Anderson reruns would be picked up and a new version would be produced for PAX as well. I'm tending to believe that Louie's reruns will be picked up as well as Richard Karn's version.

NEW GAME SHOWS

Beat the Clock - Weeknights, 5:30 - 6:00 PM and
6:30 - 7:00 PM, ET/PT

Hosted by funny man Gary Kroger, this new version of TV's classic ask contestants to complete unusual tasks within a limited amount of time. Rather than requiring brainpower or muscle power, the assignments frequently reward physical dexterity, lack of inhibition and plain old luck. Contestants who succeeded in beating the clock win cash and prizes, and became eligible for the bonus rounds. The series is produced by FremantleMedia Inc.

Family Feud - Weeknights, 7:30 - 8:00 PM, ET/PT

Two families - or celebrities playing for charity - compete against each other for cash prizes by matching answers to the results of an audience survey of 100 people. From FremantleMedia Inc.

RETURNING GAME SHOWS

Supermarket Sweep - Weeknights, 6:00 PM, ET/PT

Hold on to your shopping carts... "Supermarket Sweep," the fun-packed family game show pits husbands and wives, mothers and daughters or pairs of friends against each other and the clock to see who will take home the goods. Hosted by David Ruprecht and produced by Al Howard Productions, it's a game anyone can play, but only the best shoppers among us can win.

Shop `Til You Drop - Weeknights, 7:00 PM, ET/PT

"Shop `Til You Drop" is classic TV game show fun with newly produced shows for PAX, combining physical stunts, puzzles, pricing games and trivia questions in a fast-paced, audience play-along format. If the merchandise contestants accumulate adds up to more than $2,500, the lucky pair wins a fantastic dream vacation. Hosted by Pat Finn, the series is produced by Stone Stanley Productions.

Also, PAX is reported to air "Weakest Link" on Fridays for the 2002-03 season:

Weakest Link -Friday, 10:00 - 11:00 PM, ET/PT

Hosted by the tart-tongued Anne Robinson, Weakest Link is a highly competitive game in which a group of eight contestants are quizzed on general knowledge. The competition takes a sharp turn at the end of each round when one of the contestants is deemed "the weakest link" and voted off the show.

Or maybe PAX could actually be planning to produce new episodes of Family Feud with Richard Karn. The syndicated Feud is only renewed through 2003, so Fremantle could have worked out a deal with PAX to air new Feuds after next season. Or it could just be reruns.

The most recent I've heard was that PAX would air reruns of Louie's "Feud" during 2002 and would produce new episodes with a "new host" in 2003. Don't know if the "new host" is Richard Karn or someone else.

I'll keep you posted on what I hear.

It's Karn.

I could argue a strong point about Ray Combs, but I'll just leave it at that they're both light years better than Anderson (I've yet to see how Karn will turn out, so I won't pass judgment)

Alrighty then. Here's the facts. New episodes of "Family Feud" will NOT be produced for PAX. However, PAX may air off-syndication episodes of "Family Feud". (Basically, they may air episodes a few weeks after they air in syndication.) And, as mentioned, the new host is DEFNIITELY "Home Improvement"s Richard Karn.

NEW GAME SHOWS

Beat the Clock - Weeknights, 5:30 - 6:00 PM and
6:30 - 7:00 PM, ET/PT

I loved this gameshow, and only got to see the original about twice before it left GSN's Black & White Overnight!

Family Feud - Weeknights, 7:30 - 8:00 PM, ET/PT

Richard Karn has to be better than Anderson. This one should be good.

RETURNING GAME SHOWS

Also, PAX is reported to air "Weakest Link" on Fridays for the 2002-03 season:

Weakest Link -Friday, 10:00 - 11:00 PM, ET/PT

And the Anne Robinson version continues! Good!
