If you could pick 1 UM case that you could personally investigate with access to the complete official police file, evidence & unlimited funds which case would you choose & why?

I would choose the Robert Fisher case. I think he probably commited suicide in the woods soon after abandoning his vehicle and his remains were scattered by animals. But, that crime was so utterly brutal that I would try everything possible to find him just in case he is still hiding amongst us.

Might as well be the Nyleen Kay Marshall case. It's the one I've done the most research on.

The Marshall Case is beyond heartbreaking. I pray that gets solved. It was so sad to find out her mother was raped and murdered as well. That family has been thru a living hell.

Either EAR/ONS or the Connecticut River Valley Killer. Both are possibly still alive, and the use of Y-STR testing could help connect EAR/ONS to a potential surname and region (I know that they haven't established a hit in CODIS, which isn't that surprising). It would still be quite a long shot, given civil liberty issues with dna databases and Y-STR doesn't indicate a specific individual, but since neither case is likely to be solved other than with a family member coming forward with information, different testing is an avenue to be pursued, at least with EAR/ONS.

Great question! I'm surprised more people aren't playing!
It didn't USED to be this case, but I would say Tim McClure. There's SOMETHING going on behind the scenes that we don't know. I would like to examine the police file to see. Second place: Maura Murray. Not profiled on UM, but daaaang. That's also an interesting rabbit hole to fall down. |

My 1A choice (if I can have one) would be Cindy James. I would just like to solve it, one way or another. Now... if I could see UM's production files on how the "Mystery Rock" ever made it to the airwaves, that would be excellent. Great idea for a thread, Spanish Lotto! |

L'Oiseau Blanc. Basically any of the historical "plane/ship/person disappeared" stories, honestly. I'm a HUGE history buff, and it's always intensely fascinating to me to envision alternate history scenarios or things that could completely rewrite the history of a particular incident. But in particular L'Oiseau Blanc. With Nungesser and Coli's wartime history, it was both a fitting way to go and a sad way to go. Fitting because they were pushing the envelope, sad for obvious reasons. I would love to explore Maine and find that damn plane, just so someone can say, and know "They made it." It would also be great if their remains were found so that they could finally go home.
