From the 70's to the 80's a singer named Mickey Gilley became popular on the country charts and even had his own restaurant named Gilley's and even became the opening act for singer Johnny Lee. It's surprising that you don't find country stars today that can sing like Mickey Gilley and Mickey Gilley would make a great role model for today's country singers

Mickey Gilley is a great singer although most of his bigger hits were covers. This is my favorite by him.

Hi, Bestie! Mickey Gilley was a real, bonafide, honky tonk singer. One of the last ones. I remember watching him perform in a Texas beer joint, where you had to be tough just to walk in the door. He sounded as good live as he did on his albums. Did you know he is a cousin to Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggert? I am glad you brought him up, I haven't thought about him in years. My favorite song of his, is "That's all that matters to me". Thnk you for bringing back memories Bestie!
