Which sitcoms would they be? If you have a specific episode feel free to share which one. Otherwise just pick the sitcoms you'd like to go to any taping of.
I Love Lucy - Job Switching. I can only imagine the hysteria in the audience seeing the chocolate wrapping scene for the first time. The Honeymooners - The 99,000 Answer. Humana, humana, humana... Ed Norton? All in the Family - Edith's 50th birthday. Share the tension and joy when Edith escapes the house. Mad About You - The thanksgiving episode with all the turkeys. I don't know the title of the episode but it's easily the funniest Thanksgiving episode of all time. Newhart finale - Be a part of the final reveal and share a lifetime memory with the audience. |

Niles: That's right, absolutely nothing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go wash other peoples' underwear. |

It wouldn't constitute a sitcom, but I suppose I'd most like to have been in a studio audience for a "Jack Benny" or "Red Skelton" show. Something like that. When it comes to actual sitcoms, my preference has always leaned towards the closed-set kind, not the 'live audience' kind, so being able to witness a filming would never have been likely. Although, I did have a friend who told me of visiting the "My Three Sons" set while it was shooting, and how William Frawley was in bad shape that day, stumbling over his lines. So, I guess it's not an entirely inconceivable premise.
If I do ponder a specific sitcom episode I would have liked to have been present for, it would probably be something offbeat, like the episode of "It's A Great Life" where silent-film actress Laura La Plante guest-starred. No key reason. Just to experience the process, the era, the people, first-hand. |

DESIGNING WOMEN - The Strange Case of Clarence and Anita: This must have been the fasted scripted response episode to ever air to keep up with current events.
DESIGNING WOMEN - Foreign Affairs: If you watch this episode, you can feel the audience energy right through the screen. IT'S A LIVING- Horsing Around: My favorite of the series. Louise Lasser is hysterical! MAMA'S FAMILY - Any of the NBC episodes that featured Eunice. ROSEANNE - Ladies Choice: Again, because of the high energy level especially during the "lesbian revel" scene. |

THE ODD COUPLE - "I'm Dying of Unger". Episode where Oscar has to write a book but has writers block. The highlight is when Felix won't let an unseen visitor in to bother Oscar, so to show who's at the door Murray (Al Molinaro) sticks his nose through the peephole.
THE TONIGHT SHOW - Johnny Carson's last show. I LOVE LUCY - The William Holden episode, or about 50 others. THE HONEYMOONERS - Art Carney sleepwalking or the shared TV episode. THE NEW DICK VAN DYKE SHOW - "The Great Prestoni" Dick's office is robbed and he spends the entire episode trying to escape. |
