Heart Hmm, I'm a Sucker For Bachelor Da Da

Maybe I'm getting soft headed. But I've been watching Bachelor Dad for the past year or 2 on a once a week basis, now up until a couple months ago whenever I watched I sort of put up with the show. I thought the so-called jokes just weren't funny, Peter was annoying, Bentley was either a wolf always on the make or he was a dishrag who never stood up to Peter or anyone demanding something from him.

But the funny thing is, for the past few months I actually now look forward to watching the show every Friday, I really find myself enjoying it. I find it to be a very pleasurable way to eat my breakfast to. I like the show now, I still don't think it's a laugh riot, but it doesn't matter, I like the characters, the atmosphere, the era, the people in the show, the cars, even all the unlikely situations don't bother me. I only wish in my world every girl I meet would be hot, young, unattached, and ready to mingle the way they all are who meet Bentley. Wonderful World, as Cedric from Lum & Abner would say.

It’s a nice show and I’m so grateful Antenna aired it. I burned some eps from it and I’m glad I did!

It is a fun show, kind of a forgotten show. Not as forgotten as some, like Bob Cummings' show.

I also was a late bloomer to this show and enjoyed it when it was on Antenna TV. I wish it would come back. Maybe METV can pick it up and do a classic sitcom morning like Antenna TV.

Its a pleasant show very much of its time, he's very well to do lawyer living in a very nice house, be being a bachelor the show can have a constant parade of beauties for him to date, doesnt hurt the ratings.

Kind of the way I'm viewing Bachelor Father, a pleasant view, and though at first it seemed kind of bizarre, Bentley with the dazed look on his face, Peter seemed like a stereotype Asian, but it clicks better as time goes on.

One thing, I can be sure almost every episode will be new to me, same with Jack Benny and Burns and Allen, they were all basically before my time or probably scheduled opposite something else my parents watched.

But yes, Id prefer to be watching Bachelor Father in order.

I had the same reaction. I had never heard of BF before and cringed when I first came across it. Bachelor is such a cringey word, and the whole show seemed corny. Now it's one of my most favorite vintage shows of all time.

Since the above post from a few years ago Antenna TV has given it another try--they've given up on it, again--they may still run it on weekends, I don't know.
Several later episodes are missing from the rotation; probably music issues for most of them

Yes, MeTV could have better luck with this show, due to their larger audiences.

Cool A Bachelor Follow-Up

I'm still watching Bachelor Father every Friday once a week each week. (You never get sick of the show if you keep it to once a week.) I didn't know Antenna wasn't showing it anymore. I haven't checked their schedule either so maybe it's still there somewhere. I stopped relying on TV channels to continue with my favorite shows a long long time ago. Every classic show I watch is mostly all on DVD. If I really like it after watching all DVD episodes I'll start them all over again. I think I'm on my 3rd round of Bachelor... shows. Every once in a while I would catch an Antenna TV Bachelor showing and I was disappointed in them, as they were all highly sped up and edited. You would have thought every body was on speed watching those Antenna broadcasts. I recorded my Bachelors 17 years ago when they were on RTV and they showed them uncut and at normal speed. They did skip some episodes though.
