Music New Podcast

Hi gang. Long time lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to let you know of a new podcast I started called murdercast. The first episode covers the case of Monika Rizzo, which was featured on Unsolved Mysteries. I wrote it with the help of Bill McKinney, Monika's father, who wrote a book about the case. Though 20 years have passed, I hope that there will be justice for Monika and her family in this life time, as there is plenty of circumstantial evidence in the case. If you're interested in hearing it, you can go to http://www.murdercast.com

Howdy!

Sounds interesting. Getting Monika's father to participate was a "good get" as they say. Relatives and such are always able to add extra info, which I feel is necessary to get fresh perspectives on cases.

Interesting indeed. One report described Leonard Rizzo as a "computer programmer" and Bill's account described him as knowing nothing about computers, only a salesman. Big difference. San Antonio homicide would not comment about an open investigation of course. I still have hopes for this case. It reminds me of the Clow Killer case that just aired on 20/20 a few nights ago. Took years for them to make an arrest.

Working on the Danny Casolaro case now and have met with investigative journalist Don Devereux about it. He was kind enough to give me the documents that Danny asked him for two weeks before his death. Quite a rabbit hole to go down, but also very eye-opening as far as government/mafia shenanigans during that era.

Well, I can't get into the rabbit hole too deeply in the podcast--just want to cover his strange "suicide." But I'm happy to post the documents here once I finish it. Thanks for the support!

I hope it's as good as The Trail Went Cold.

There's another UM-related podcast out there called "The Stack Pack" but that was so horrible I won't dignify it by providing its link here. I just remember lots of swearing and laughing and it was really off-putting. It came across as a bunch of unemployed bums doing their own amateurish version of UM meets Vh1's I Love The 80's. I have no idea what possible audience there could be for that, except UM diehards who would watch or listen to anything UM related, such as a new version of Unsolved Mysteries if it were hosted by someone like Casey Anthony or George Zimmerman.

Well, nothing's as good as The Trail Went Cold! Love it. I am a fan and supporter of that podcast. My favorite was when Robin was doing a spot for Blue Apron or something and he said something like "when I cook, it's more like The Meal Went Cold!" All I can hope for is that no one describes my podcast like you described The Stack Pack. But now I have to check it out of course Thanks for the warm welcome.

Not to get too off-track here, but I remember listening to the "Thinking Sideways" podcast once and it wasn't bad. (It covers cases that were on Unsolved Mysteries, and some that weren't). One of my friends is a huge fan of that series. I wouldn't say I loved it (nothing beats watching the original Unsolved Mysteries), but still not a bad effort. The episode I listened to was "Lost Boy Larry" and it was a very intriguing case that hasn't had much discussion anywhere.

Btw, I'm pretty torn on whether Lost Boy Larry was legit or a hoax. I'm leaning toward hoax, but it would certainly be a very, very convincing one. The thing is, the statute of limitations has long since passed on any charges that would have been brought on any person(s) who were in on it if it was a hoax, so there's nothing stopping them from coming forward 4 decades later and admitting it as such.

I just listened to the first episode. Very well done! This raises the bar high for true crime podcasts.

There was lots of info packed in that Monika Rizzo episode I was unaware of. Leonard admitting to keeping her at "93-95 pounds". What a creep. That is not a safe weight for an adult.

I can't believe to this day he's gotten away with it so far. Her bones were in his backyard. She was obviously abused. There was evidence of a violent struggle in the house. He is known to abuse women. What more are they waiting for? They should just go for it. It's Texas. As you said, they'll put him away in no time at all and not give it a second thought.

Anyways, the podcast was great. Nice, clear, consistent voice. No loud, "in your face" music that distracts from the material. I enjoyed it.

Brenda Schaffer from Kentucky is episode #2.

I also looked for the tattoo but could not find a picture.

Warning: Episode 2 is kind of disturbing -( I don't like to focus on the really macabre, but this case was just so unbelievable in a lot of respects.

Thanks for the kind words. Any constructive criticism on the podcast would be really appreciated. I didn't want to just ramble on with my own thoughts on it. That's what I like about The Trail Went Cold is that it's very deliberate and thought out. No wasted time like some others where they just kind of jabber away.
