Question Did anyone ever notice...?

Last night I watched the Mary Tyler Moore reunion on CBS. When they brought Betty White out, I sat and listened to her stories.

Then I realized something... there is a big connection between TGG and MTM. Not only was Betty White on both shows, but so were Harold Gould (played Rhoda's father and Myles Webber) and Nancy Walker (played Rhoda's mother and Sophia's sister Angela).

Ain't that weird?????

You know, there are a LOT of similarities, and I think people who like both shows notice them. Also add to your list:

Jay Sandrich, who directed and assembled the pilot of the Golden Girls directed all of the Mary Tyler Moore shows.

Remember, Blanche's sister who needed the kidney? Well, Sheree North, who plays Virgina, is also Lou Grant's girlfriend in the later episodes.

Stolen plotline? Remember when Rose dates Dr. Johnathan Newman, a little-guy? Well, Mary dates an author who is also short in the episode "Toulouse-Lautrec Is One Of My Favorite Artists."

I am sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now. if I do, I'll post them.

Life's getting busy. More work and no play makes Jack a very rich man. Anyway, I've noticed that you haven't been posting at the Facts board like you used to. Any particular reason?

Well, I think that pretty much every aspect of that show has been uncovered and explored. What's left? We know who is right-handed, who slept with who (Natalie and Snake), who did this and that... it's now almost like beating a dead horse with a dead horse.

I still go there occasionally, but there really isn't anything new. Plus, now that the show is off the air, there isn't any big discussion about "last night's show" and such. I don't watch The Division because I am Simpsons fan. I haven't seen but one episode of Scooby Doo with Mindy as Velma. I just bought Lisa Whelchel's book on ebay. And I caught Kim on Star Dates. I'm up to code, I think.

Lastly, and it's not really a personal thing, but it's mainly teenage girls in there -- and what do I have in common with them? I like the nostalgia of it, and they are into the whole experience of it all. I can't really compare my feelings with theirs.

TGG, on the other hand, has a different crowd -- at least in here. Plus, the writing was better than most shows (including TFOL), the actors relate to me better (as an adult), and the stories have some meaning behind them. So, that's why I'm on this board more than the other.
