Confused I Can't Believe It

What The Heck! To quote Cecil of Beany & fame. I just checked out this morning's recording of Fountain of Youth episode and at about 7 minutes in, the channel digitized out and 20 minutes later about 7:54 am the channel came back BUT as the main channel that ME TV is part of, in my area Me TV is on 5.3, the main channel is 5.1, but at 20 minutes in the channel changed itself over to 5.1. How in the world this could happen I have no idea. I just switched it back to 5.3 and ME TV is still on 5.3 but for some reason the channels changed themselves right when I was recording, it couldn't have waited till 8:02 to mess up, it had to change itself at 7:34 am right when I need the channel most. Well, let's hope Me TV shows the series over again, I have a long wait till it rolls back around to 5.26.

With season 5 everything seems to be falling apart here, too. First, a few weeks ago, an EBS test came in over the end. The other day, the local channel (again) screwed up and ran a too-long final break, and cut back in in the middle of the end credits, totally losing the tag scene. Everything proceeded fine during the first four seasons.

On another thread we are also hearing MeTV is going on to season 6 next. Evidently they are proceeding through all seasons (hey...MeTV...we've seen seasons 6 thru 10 many times!). At this rate we won't get to seasons 11 and 12 until the middle of 2018, if we make it at all.

Wink Recording Woes & Helpful Hints

I wouldn't even mind all that much if they just re-showed all b/w's all over again right after Season 5 is done, considering they've never showed them before and they haven't been seen since TV Land days in the early 2000's and more than a handful have NEVER been seen here since the '60's. You're right the color 6-10 seasons have been shown many times already on Me before (NOT that I mind that this show is back on the air even if it has been on before). I'd love to see Hogan's Heroes or MUSH removed permanently they've been on so long Me should be ashamed of themselves. I stopped watching those 2 shows decades ago, that's how long I've been sick of them.

When these recordings mess up it is very disappointing. Especially never knowing if they'll ever be repeated again or not. I'm glad I got Our Miss Brooks while I had the chance, it's gone again perhaps for another 50 years, I'll be dead before it ever returns. We still don't even know if Sons seasons 11 & 12 will ever be shown on ME TV.

As for EBS warnings ruining the show, I've noticed Verizon cable version has these EBS interruptions A LOT more often than the broadcast digital channel over the airwaves version. I record "over the air" versions for this reason alone. Plus I think the picture is better when taken directly off the air rather than thru cable box to recorder dubbing wires. To avoid the EBS you may try recording the over the airwave version instead of cable's.

And I'm not real happy I was forced to record 2 Sons episodes together in order to get full end credits and full opening, if I had split the recording to be 2 individual shows either the end or the beginning would have been cut. I like that they're showing one show at a time, now I can label it correctly by title instead of episode #s. I'm seriously considering RE-recording them all over again if I can get them in single episode versions for the DVD.

I had to re-record a few episodes of The Joey Bishop Show from Antenna TV because some shows had technical issues when I recorded them the first time around. But I have good recordings of all of them now. I think there's one episode that has a minor glitch but it's not troubling enough to require recording it again.

I don't think I've encountered the problem on Weigel's ABC 57.2, where I watch MeTV.

When my local World Harvest affiliate (46.1) runs an EBS test or an Amber Alert, it does cut to the main channel for its duration on the subchannels. But I can't complain because look at what they're now giving me: 46.2 Ion, 46.3 Grit, 46.4 Laff, and 46.5 Light-TV. Great overall selection!

I always seem to hit these EBS tests...I think I see every one of them. Another thing over-the-air copying would solve is digital freeze-ups. Comcast is having a lot of that lately. They try to squeeze too much into that coaxial cable.
