Default Will CBS EVER colorize The Honeymooners this year?

CBS has colorized various episodes of I Love Lucy as well as other shows. I spoke to one guy who has connections and he said that since much of the episodes take place in that bare bones apartment, putting it in color will seem like Ralph & Alice were in Oz.

What do you think of the odds are o CBS showing a colorized episode this year?

I'd say fairly low. CBS has only had ratings success with the colorized Lucys. Dick Van Dyke and Andy Griffith didn't rate as highly when CBS aired colorized episodes of those series.

Ah well! If that's the case, not a big loss for me.

Well I just found out they are airing I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke in December 22 but that is all they have scheduled this year. I just wonder what the other Lucy episode will be.

I think the Honeymooners are just as deserving of a primetime special as Lucy or Dick Van Dyke. I guess unfortunately they just aren't as well known or popular these days. It's unlikely for them to get the color treatment, but I still wouldn't lose hope.

Also, it's somewhat depressing that CBS thinks only colorized shows are appropriate for primetime. I understand they want it to be a big deal by showing everything in color and all that, but would it really bother them to show a few classics in their unadulterated state? The answer is yes it would bother them, because today's viewers have no regard for B/W shows unfortunately.

Thumbs up That's Nice But What's Really Needed Is...

I've been saying for years that I wish CBS would release a DVD set of the complete 39 Classics collection of COLORIZED Honeymooners. I'd buy it in a split second. Sure I'd be happy to see it on the network, but that's just a cherry on top, the main attraction for me is to be able to buy the complete COLORIZED Classic 39 collection. Now there's a wish that could so easily be accomplished, only 39 short episodes to color, it's an investment that could easily be made.

I don't see what's so special about colorization. You can see Lucy and The Honeymooners in actual color in the 60s and 70s, but for some reason CBS acts like that cartoonish red hair is something to get excited about. I'm happy to see some classic comedies in prime time, but like PhoenixAcres said, I wish they'd have tried it with the originals first. They probably would've done just as well in the ratings.

The guy who colorized this clip is the one who should be hired to colorize, not the awful team who is doing it now. I do not want to see The Honeymooners colorized but if they would be I would hope this guy does it. This clip may not be perfect but Lucy looks more natural, especially the hair, than anything CBS has done.

I'd say colorize the Christmas episode and perhaps the first episode, "TV or Not TV" for an hour holiday special...

That does look much better. I just think they should have tested the waters with the original black & white Christmas show before shelling out for unconvincing colorization. That episode still isn't in syndication, so it'd be a special treat for anyone who didn't buy the DVDs regardless.

That guy from pop-colorture.com does EXCELLENT work. His Lucy clip is way better than the CBS colorized Lucys, which are way too saturated. he also has some great clips from The Addams Family and The Munsters. Check out his YouTube channel - definitely worth a few min.
