Katie and Fran

One thing that I have a rather vivid memory of is an incident from the third-season episode called "Katie's Commitment". When Katie has a date with her college professor boyfriend, she comes down the stairs all dressed and made up for the evening. On her way down, she realizes that she left her purse upstairs and says, "oops, I forgot my purse". She then heads back up to retrieve her purse. Well, a very similar thing happened yesterday at the place where I volunteer. You see, when I go to Saint Barnabas Hospice, the woman who is usually in charge of me is a bereavement coordinator named Fran. However, when I arrived early in the afternoon yesterday, she was on her way out. I do not have all of the details, but I know that she was late for something. Luckily, there was another staff member in the same department who found something constructive for me to do. About a minute after Fran left the office, she came running back announcing that she had forgotten her purse. She got it from her desk and then ran out again. Just like Katie, Fran realized that she was without her purse and returned to the place from where she had come to retrieve it. Another thing that Fran and the actress that played Katie happen to have in common is that they are both left-handed. Being that there were two left-handed actresses in "Mad About You", I think that I will head over there next and tell my buddies there about having made this post.
