Here's another game show I discovered that Monty Hall hosted that came out in 1986 and it's a remake of the classic Tom Kennedy game show Split Second. Originally debuting in Canada Split Second's 1986 version was just as fun as the original version and even featured the same bonus round remixed for the 80's. Reruns of Split Second's 1986 version were added to The Family Channel's classic game show afternoon block in the 90's. It's amazing that Monty Hall had an awesome talent as a game show host and hosting Split Second in 1986 proved that he could expand his game show menu beyond Let's Make A Deal. I really think Mill Creek Entertainment or Shout Factory should make a tribute DVD set of all the game shows of the Monty Hall library that should feature the 1986 Split Second remake. Do you agree?

Hi, Bestie! I agree with you. They should put out a dvd of Monty Hall. I wish I could have seen that game show Split Second. It sounds good.

In New York it was on Channel 7 running in a 10am to 11am block with Jeopardy with Alex Trebek (before Jeopardy was moved to its current 7pm slot). Split Second was a Stefan Hatos/Monty Hall creation. I know Monty Hall thought Split Second should have been more successful and I couldn't agree more (I think it's just as good as Jeopardy).
With all due respect to Monty I thought Tom Kennedy who hosted the network version in the 70's did a better job. |

The original Tom Kennedy version of Split Second was a classic, fast paced quiz show. It's a show that should be revived today. As for the Monty Hall incarnation, it wasn't shown in a lot of markets, including Minneapolis-St. Paul so that's what probably led to its short run.
