So I am catching up on episodes from last week. Why was the episode about Barbara's engagement all about Ann? Why couldn't she be happy for her daughter? Instead the episode ended up being about Ann getting drunk at Schneider's.

I never quite got why she was so upset. She took Barbara wanting to marry a guy to keep him in the country with more grace and she was opposed to that marriage.

I didn't get it either but sometimes you just have to remember that Ann's a very stubborn lady. Maybe it was because she was in college/he was in college/both? Idk.

I know that she thought Barbara was too young, but if he was finishing Dental School, Mark was not that young. He would have been several years older than her. And at least he had a career ahead of him. Barbara was looking at a good life ahead of her as the wife of a Doctor.
