Movie New "Charlie’s Angels" Film Trailer Released

Kristen Stewart Eyed for "Charlie’s Angels" Reboot (EXCLUSIVE)
by Brent Lang and Justin Kroll
Sept. 29, 2017

Kristen Stewart is being eyed for the Charlie’s Angels reboot, according to sources close to the project.

The Twilight star would play one of the members of the female private detective agency. Stewart’s is not the only name being considered. Casting is under way, and Sony, the studio behind the film, is also interested in several other big names, including Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o.

Elizabeth Banks is directing the film. It’s slated for a summer 2019 release, and Sony clearly has franchise hopes for the project. Banks, Elizabeth Cantillon and Max Handelman will produce.

Charlie's Angels Reboot Casts Power Rangers Actress Naomi Scott

Quote:
Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott is reportedly set to star in Sony Pictures' upcoming Charlie's Angels movie reboot, from Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks. The movie is set for release in summer 2019 and was supposed to start filming in April of this year, though the cameras have started just rolling yet.

Charlie's Angels, which originally aired as a TV show in the 1970s, has since been rebooted twice: first, and most famously, in the movies starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu; and then later as a very short-lived TV show on ABC. Now the angels are once again flying down to kick ass and take names in another big-screen reboot - and it looks like the movie has found its third angel.

That Hashtag Show reports that Scott is set to star in Charlie's Angels alongside Kristen Stewart, while Lupita Nyong'o is still in talks for the movie. The report also says that the filming start date has been pushed back to September, and that the movie is expected to wrap in January 2019. Production will take place in Berlin.

In addition to directing the movie, Banks will also be playing a gender-flipped Bosley - though we don't yet know who will be providing voiceover for the famous (and elusive) Charlie. The script for the movie was originally written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, then later rewritten by playwright David Auburn, then rewritten again by Narcos co-creators Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro.

Scott's star has been rising fast over the past couple of years. In addition to playing Kimberly a.k.a. the Pink Ranger in Power Rangers, she's also playing Princess Jasmine in Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin, which recently wrapped filming. Unfortunately for those who grew attached to Scott's rebellious teenage superhero in Power Rangers, we're unlikely to see her return in a sequel, as Hasbro acquired the rights to Power Rangers earlier this year, and has since confirmed plans for a movie reboot.

The 2000 movie reboot of Charlie's Angels was a modest box office success, and enough time has passed now that it's become a fun piece of nostalgia in its own right. With the right mix of action, humor and cheesiness, Banks' reboot could be a serious contender at the box office next summer.

All are built like 12 year old boys. Kristen Steward is not attractive at all.

"Charlie's Angels" Reboot Casts Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Kristen Stewart
by Borys Kit
July 26, 2018

Charlie and Sony have found their Angels.

Naomi Scott, who is starring as Jasmine in Disney’s upcoming Aladdin remake, and British newcomer Ella Balinska are set to join Kristen Stewart in the studio’s new Charlie’s Angels reboot.

Elizabeth Banks, who is directing the project, will also take a role in front of the camera: she will play Bosley, the face of the enigmatic and never-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend.

The new story takes the detective agency premise of the original television series and turn-of-the century movies and takes it global, with the Townsend Agency now a worldwide security and intelligence service that has teams around the planet. The movie will focus on one of those teams and the next generation of Angels.

Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the '70s,” said Banks in a statement. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.

The new project has Banks’ imprint on all levels. In addition to being in front and behind the camera, Banks wrote the latest draft of the script with Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider’s Web), working off of earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas.

Banks is also producing the project with husband Max Handelman via their Brownstone Productions banner. Also producing are Doug Belgrad, who is also co-financing through his 2.0 Entertainment, and Elizabeth Cantillon.

Sony is setting a Sept. 27, 2019 release for the new movie.

That's the problem. It has nothing to do with quality. It's pushing a political agenda. The same political agenda that every other Hollywood piece of **** pushes. That's why they all suck.

Absolutely. This SJW/PC stuff has infiltrated every movie and tv show out there today. It's so obvious and they shove it down your throat. It's ruined a lot of movie franchises. Ghostbusters and Star Wars immediately come to mind. I'll probably still see this new CA reboot regardless.

I mean, I'll watch it out of curiosity but I doubt it will re-capture the magic of the first theatrical films.

Honestly, as much as I am for their gender equality agenda, it feels like a desperate attempt at doing so, considering this franchise has been rebooted so many times in recent years.

There's absolutely no need for one and I'm not even a fan of these actresses but I'm not gonna totally write it off... I'll give it a chance.

I agree.

There was a interesting, quirky attraction to the first movie with Cameron, Lucy and Drew. The timing was right. The action, the humor and campiness was on point. The movie was fun. The actors had good chemistry and everything flowed well.

I hope I'm wrong, but don't think this new re-boot will be well received.

I sincerely hope some/all of the original angels do cameos.

Kristen Stewart Teases ‘Woke’ ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot
Quote:
“Watch. I’m gonna say all this, and then you’re gonna be like, ‘You guys didn’t do that at all,” Kristen Stewart joked about her upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot that is about to head into production.

While promoting historical biopic “Lizzie” with co-star and producer Chloe Sevigny, Stewart noted that the new “Angels” “is still gonna be fun and ‘Charlie’s Angels’-y, but will also be current and modern.”

One of those modern updates, of course, is Elizabeth Banks playing Bosley, a role traditionally played by a man in previous iterations. Banks will also direct the film.

I'll see it, just out of curiosity.

I wonder if it will be more humorous or serious?

Where's Captain Picard?

I see bell bottom slacks, but no pantsuits... it MUST have pantsuits!
