Talking Can I Get a HIP HIP HOORAY?

Here's a Great complement to ME-TV. For the first time since these shows were originally shown on CBS in the early '60's, ME TV is showing EVERY b/w episode (so far) in order. This is something Nick@NITE, CBN/Family Channel, & TV Land NEVER EVER DID. I know because I went to all kinds of trouble to try to find those missing episodes to complete my collection. Nick would skip episodes that CBN would show, CBN would skip shows NICK would show, TV Land would show some that NICK showed but skipped shows that NICK and CBN would show. And for at least 12 episodes, as I recall it, no channel showed these episodes, they were skipped everywhere. I finally had to go to Australia to find those missing 12.

BUT HERE NOW FINALLY ALL b/w episodes are being shown (so far) in the correct order all on ME TV, this is a TV American broadcasting first since the '60's!!! A reason for everyone to shout HIP HIP HOORAY for ME TV today!!!!

Now I just hope ME TV doesn't eventually go the way of TV Land & terribly disappoint me like TV Land did when they abandoned all great classic TV of the '50's and '60's and started playing crap from the '80's, '90's and the present. The very reason we all went to TV Land (and now to ME TV) in the first place was to escape the trash TV of today. Then TV Land joined in with the trash and started showing the very trash shows we went there to avoid.

What an abomination TV Land has become and I still am smarting from their betrayal to all those loyal fans who "called their cable company" to get classic TV back on. As soon as we got our cable companies to carry TV Land they stabbed all of us in the back.

TV Land is an absolute mess. And it just keeps going downhill. More and more dreck.

Hip Hip Hooray for MeTV today!!!

Hazel Anyday, do you get Antenna TV? I think Antenna does shows in order.

ME TV sounds great, just like Antenna. I wish I could get ME

Happy viewing!

Wink Coo Coo For Classic TV

Yes, OH NUTS, I do get Antenna, but for the past year I haven't had much use for it since they show shows I already have on DVD. Though I was grateful for their showing of Joey Bishop Show and especially It's About Time when they showed these programs. Joey I had never seen and the last time I saw It's About Time was when I was a kid and it was on network TV as new broadcasts (yep, I'm old). But Dennis, Hazel (my favorite show) and Gidget I have all on DVD, and uncut to boot, so I don't bother with Antenna TV when I watch those, as I've said many times, thank goodness for DVDs.

I used to have RTV TV, and though they showed a lot of public domain crap, they did show a couple good programs that you never see elsewhere (thinking of Bachelor Father and Ozzie & Harriet) but they skipped so many episodes and never ever showed them in order, so it was a case of "better than nothing" with them. But our local channel long ago removed it. Despite it's many flaws I would like to see it back.

I DON'T get Decades TV, that sounds like a channel I would like to see.

My complements also go out to GET TV. As they have done so much in showing shows other channels NEVER show. Just recently and currently they showed The Thin Man w/Peter Lawford, Dan August, Hawk, Peter Loves Mary, Molly Goes To College, Equalizer, Ghost & Mrs. Muir, Jimmy Stewart Show and westerns TV shows galore the only 2 I didn't already have being Hondo & Shane (TV series'). GRIT TV also used to be good once in a great while, unfortunately they've gotten stuck for years now with endless showings of same shows over and over Walker TX Ranger & Laramie have been repeated, in marathons yet, over again so many times I long ago stopped watching this once great channel. Grit needs to bring on DIFFERENT shows and stop with the endless 4 and 6 hour marathons of the very few shows they do have.

Smile The Good And The Bad

P.S. Antenna does one thing that's really annoying that ME TV never does, they run their end credits on one side while they begin the next show on the other side of the screen and mute the sound of those end credits. ME TV NEVER talks over their end credits and they let them play out complete uninterrupted all by themselves just the way it should be.

Antenna TV was once a great channel, but I don't like it as much as I used to. They need to bring on more rare old TV shows instead of showing the same ones over and over. I'd love to see Antenna TV show MR. TERRIFIC or CAPTAIN NICE.

It's still good though for people who've never seen their shows before. I'm glad they still show Hazel and Dennis, even though I watch my DVDs when I want to instead of their channel. But thanks to their showing these shows younger generations who've never seen these will now be able to discover for themselves how great they are. Hazel was one show most people never heard of (if they're young) but now with Antenna TV that problem is solved.

I agree that Antenna TV was once great. A great example of that was when they
showed Bachelor Father. They showed it totally unedited, including the wonderful end theme by composer Conrad Salinger, used for seasons 4 and 5.

The only problem is that they were missing a large number of episodes from the later seasons, and once I traded to obtain them, I finally think I figured out why. John Forsythe's Bachelor Productions spent money as freely as Bentley Gregg did on the show, so there were quite a few musical performances on those missing episodes (and this was not the normal public domain dreck that most sitcoms use--they used REAL music--familiar tunes). So, my theory is that the original licensing of that music expired. I also think that's why several season 8 episodes of The Donna Reed Show were skipped on the recent MeTV airings--for instance, they skipped the final episode where Lesley Gore sang. Music licensing, quite a complicated issue.

But Antenna TV, with their credit skipping and edited episodes, has lapsed into what TV Land was about 10-15 years ago. Not a good sign.

It'll be interesting to see how Uncle Charley gets along with the family, when he arrives in a few episodes.

I think I had pretty much already tuned Antenna TV out when they were showing Bach Father, esp. since I already rec'd. it off of RTV years earlier. I had to keep recording Bach. Father with the DVD RAM discs since they showed so many repeats they had already shown but then they'd throw on a not broadcast episode every once in a while, so I recorded every day and would delete the endless repeats but then would jump for joy when they showed an occasional "new" episode which I then dubbed over to the permanent Bachelor Father DVD disc.

I also enjoyed My Mother The Car and Good Morning World but it was a couple years before Antenna TV showed them cause I saw them from the uncut and restored color commercial DVD sets that were released some years ago. Most shows I don't watch from Antenna TV I use my DVD commercial sets instead. But for those who never heard of or seen these shows before Antenna TV is great, it informs people (young folks) about these shows and may light a bulb in them to buy the DVDs once they've seen them on Antenna for the first time. I remember first watching both My Mother The Car & also Good Morning World when it was on network TV for the first time. Good Morning World was the show that first made me want to become a disc jockey. While it had been so long since I first saw My Mother... that when I saw it more recently from the commercial DVD set I was completely surprised and delighted to see that this show was in COLOR!! I remember it only as a b/w show since we didn't get a Color TV till late '67.

Mr. Terrific and Capt. Nice would be perfect one season only shows to switch out now with It's About Time and My Mother...

Really the only time I tune into Antenna TV now is to see an occasional Johnny Carson show, the hour 1/2 episodes they show only 2 nights a week. Even then it's only if Carson has a guest I like.

Yes, "Here Comes Charley" is getting closer in terms of eps.
IIRC, Frawley is in about half of the season 5 eps.

Considering Antenna is a free channel it's really quite good. They brought back some shows I never thought I'd get to see again like Bschelor Father and Here Come The Brides. Is Antenna perfect? Of course not! Their commercials last FOREVER. The credit thing doesn't bother me that much though but I can see how it could others. And yes, I agree it's always good to have a great stash of "favorite shows" DVDs.

Yeah. You see a lot of "Frawley shouldn't've been sacked!" but he was in really crppy health and would've died the following year anyway.

I never got into My Three Sons. I've tried watching some episodes now and then but the show has just never appealed to me.

A comment about Get TV: I know they are probably trying to air a variety of different shows, but because of this they are constantly messing with their schedule and changing it. For example, a few months ago when they aired the Mrs. G. show and Peter Loves Mary, both shows got pulled from the schedule after airing for only 8 weeks. I wasn't that interested in the Mrs. G. show but I recorded Peter Loves Mary, and I'm glad I did because I sure didn't expect the show to get pulled off the schedule that quickly. They didn't even leave it on long enough to go through two full cycles, some episodes aired twice but others aired only once. And they didn't air all the episodes either, they skipped four of them, 28 of the 32 episodes were shown. So my overall opinion of Get TV is not that great.

Another show I recorded from Get TV is Girl With Something Extra with Sally Field. I was able to record all of those except for one episode, I'm missing the episode titled The Sour Grapevine. I tried to record it twice but both times a different episode was aired, so maybe there's a problem with The Sour Grapevine episode, I don't know. But I have all the other episodes so if I'm missing one, not really happy about it but it's alright I can live without it.

Wink Just Call Me Sammy Sunshine

I agree GET removed Mrs. G..., Peter...,Girl with Sumpin' all way too soon. BUT, here's why I still like GET, at least they RAN these shows, at least once, something the other channels have never done in all the years since these shows were on originally. I had NEVER seen Peter... or Mrs. G... before, I did see Girl With... when it was originally on, but not since then. So I am very happy with GET TV. Let's not forget GET's also recent showing of Jimmy Stewart Show, another one I haven't seen since it was originally on, no other channel ever showed it. Ghost Mrs Muir, Nanny & Prof. also same story, hardly ever seen till GET brought them back. Now GET needs to bring on even more never seen TV shows.

And if you want more reasons to be thrilled with GET TV right NOW, they are currently running DAN AUGUST!!! Now when was the last time you saw that? The 1970's? Uh huh. They're also showing a slew of classic TV westerns that other TV channels NEVER show, these don't do me any good personally, I already have them on commercial DVD sets, BUT for people who've never seen them it must be fantastic, not to mention enlightening young people who've never seen or heard of them before. Get also showed Burt Reynolds' other series HAWK recently, I hope they bring this one back and show ALL the episodes the way they're doing now with Dan A.

More reasons to celebrate GET, how about them showing the great Howard Duff series FELONY SQUAD recently? This is another one I hope they'll return to show ALL the episodes of.

This is really the new GOLDEN AGE for classic TV, never before has so many fantastic classic TV shows from the '60's been shown on so many channels. The old days (the '80's if you can call that the old days) you had only NICK AT NITE to go to, now there are so many great old TV show channels.

You made some valid points. Get TV deserves credit for dusting off some long unseen shows and putting them on the air. And I think they usually try to air shows uncut, I'll give them credit for that too. I just wish they would manage their schedule differently and keep it the same for awhile, but instead it's always in a state of change, removing some shows while adding others. Get TV is the type of channel that if there is something on their schedule that you want to record, you better record it when it comes on because if you miss it they might not show it again.

Jimmy Stewart Show- I bought the DVD set a few years ago when it came out, but for those who don't have the DVD's, yes it's great that Get TV ran the episodes.

Dan August is your typical, run of the mill 70's detective show, but what makes it interesting is that it stars Burt Reynolds minus the mustache, and also has Norman Fell before he became famous as Mr. Roper on Three's Company.

One other thing I enjoy from Get TV is the Sonny and Cher variety show repeats, I watch that once in a while if it's on.

Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Nanny and the Professor, I watched a few episodes but neither show is a favorite of mine.

One old sitcom from the 60's I'd like to see Get TV air is Please Don't Eat The Daisies. I don't know if Get has this show in their library, the last time I saw it on TV was in Chicago sometime in the 1970's when WFLD TV ran the episodes.

I can’t watch Get. It’s on a super weak low powered station in my area.

I haven’t watched a lot of My Three Sons but Decades had a weekend marathon of it back in June and I watched some of that and enjoyed it. I wish Decades had more sitcoms on their weekend marathons instead of the same old crummy dramas.
