Auto-Tune, pitch correction, and vocal effects are all why today's pop music suck.

I HATE Auto-tune. It makes stuff have that weird electronic warbling sound. Urgh.

The main reason it's so terrible:

It's not about the music, it's about the performer and their image.

That's partially it. But the main reason is that the image has to be evil. Good music isn't cool but violent black gangster rappers are. They have no talent because what they do doesn't require talent.

With countless bands and songs in the industry, modern pop music is far too broad to make a blanket statement that it's all terrible. There are some truly good songs still being made in modern times, even if they're relatively hard to pick out.

Everything just seems to be hip hop and rap now. It's just sad.

Oh No

I can't find that much good music today...the only one that's got effort is Lady Gaga.

I even call Country Music that's out today "Country" Music...it's TOO watered-down!

I hardly listen to modern pop music anymore and mostly listen to oldies and show tunes and easy listening type music now but in my eyes why modern pop music went downhill is because in keeping up with the times and with what's in style the singers today want to attract a new audience to their songs and by appearing on talk shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Steve Harvey's talk show Steve and The Tonight Show it helps their albums sell a lot of copies. Take for instance when Justin Bieber started his career he became a mega star because of Ellen DeGeneres promoting him a lot on her talk show and became a crush of girls and having merchandise such as dolls action figures girls clothing and purses and even his own fragrance but now that Justin Bieber is now an adult his career went downhill. The same thing happened to Britney Spears and she has not had a good album in years. But when rap artist T-Pain debuted on the music scene he made autotune singing really popular and many other artists started using autotune singing as well. But another thing that music artists started to do was using a vocoder to enhance their singing voice starting with Cher when she released the song Believe in 1999 and so many artists started using this style of singing. But if there were singers with voices like Whitney Houston and singers like Michael Jackson and country artists like Patsy Cline and male country artists like Hank Williams Jr. modern pop music would be better today

Because all the good music has already been done. It will never improve.

There’s just no originality anymore and music just simply sounds the same.
