One of the most memorable recurring characters on "The Wayans Bros." was the ambitious ad executive Ted (Jack Plotnick), who made his first appearance in season three's "Risky Bid-ness." Ted was an advertising executive who was always taking credit for Shawn's ideas. After Shawn outwitted Ted at his own game (by impressing the boss of the ad agency, Mr. Peterman, with a clever slogan for a vacuum cleaner company), Ted was fired from the ad agency.
Ted ultimately returned in season four's "Ted Revenge," in which we discover that Ted had suffered a mental breakdown and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after being fired from the ad agency. Upon his release from the psychiatric hospital, Ted--now working as a tax auditor for the IRS--decides to seek his revenge on Shawn for upstaging him at the ad agency by "auditing" Shawn. Thankfully, Shawn (with a little help from Marlon) outnumbered Ted in the end, and Ted was fired once again. At the end of the episode, Ted resurfaces to terrorize Shawn and Marlon, this time as a mail carrier for the USPS (United States Postal Service). Jack Plotnick's performance as Ted in both of "Risky Bid-ness" and "Ted's Revenge" was deliciously delightful...it's unfortunate that he didn't become a recurring nemesis on "The Wayans Bros.," similar to Sideshow Bob (voiced by Kelsey Grammer) on "The Simpsons." I also thought that the ending of "Ted's Revenge" was a cliffhanger for a potential third appearance, which never materialized. Drop me a line, folks...I'd love to hear from you! Enjoy your evening! |
