Default Shining Time Station

In 1989 Shining Time Station made it's debut on PBS and was one of the most popular children's shows ever made. Set in a train station Shining Time Station combined live action and cartoons Shining Time Station featured songs and taught kids lessons about growing up and trying your best at things and featured a magical jukebox that housed a group of magical singing puppets. But the real impressive thing that made Shining Time Station a hit with children was it featured story segments about Thomas The Tank Engine that were narrated first by Ringo Starr then the late George Carlin and finally Alec Baldwin who each played the conductor. Shining Time Station reruns also aired on FOX Family Channel when the channel made it's debut in 1998 as part of their early morning lineup and also featured music composed and written by Joe Raposo. It would be nice to see kids shows like Shining Time Station being aired on TV again because it really taught kids lessons in a good manner and who would've guessed that Thomas The Tank Engine would be a huge superstar for young children due to this show

I have never seen this show, but it sounds CRAZY - no wonder kids today are so ambivalent about trains.

I loved this show.

It also featured Didi Conn.

I remember seeing Shining Time Station many times when I was a toddler and I always thought Shining Time Station was a cool show and if my memory serves correctly Didi Conn played the character named Stacey and Didi Conn was so fun in the role of Stacey. Do you also remember on Shining Time Station that the station also had a picture machine that whenever the kids would play with it a song would appear along with old cartoon clips from the 40's and 50's? That I always thought was the coolest part of Shining Time Station. It's hard to believe that Thomas The Tank Engine became a superstar and after the movie Thomas And The Magic Railroad debuted Shining Time Station ended and Thomas The Tank Engine went on to star in the cartoon Thomas And Friends and Thomas The Tank Engine toys are still a huge hit with little boys and children who adore trains
