Default Something that doesn't make sense about the "Don't Lock Now" episode

Mel and the waitresses get locked in the storeroom and then they get mad at Vera for hanging up on someone that called because they thought that she should have asked them for help. Why didn't they just call someone for help? I refuse to believe that none of them had any phone numbers memorized.

Mel had a lock on the phone. They were only able to accept incoming calls, they couldn't make outgoing calls. There's a scene where Alice asks Mel for the key so they can call someone for help. Unfortunately he doesn't have the key on him. Is that scene cut from syndication? If so, Alice really isn't worth watching in syndication if they keep cutting out the important parts of the episodes for them to make sense.

Either Logo cut that scene out or I just missed it. I guess Esther (played by guest star Nedra Volz) had the key since they ended up finding out that she was the one that was making long distance calls to New Jersey.

Esther was the reason Mel placed the lock on the phone. She was sneaking in the backroom making long distance calls. Mel thought it was one of the girls so he placed locks on the phone and doors to keep people from sneaking in. There's a scene at the end where Esther breaks in using her husband's keys (he was a locksmith) and goes to use the phone except she's not able to anymore. She says "Oh rats. Some giant turkey put a lock on this phone." That's when Mel and the girls find out it was her all along. It's one of my favorite episodes.

I did see that scene at the end that you're talking about, but I'm thinking that it's more likely that I neglected to pay attention to some of the details of the episode rather than Logo really left that much of the episode out.

This is why watching "Alice" on Logo can be hazardous to your health.

They cut vital scenes and confuse the crap out of you.

Same goes for One Day at a Time, among others they treat poorly.

I can't wait till Antenna airs this in December so it won't be butchered anymore.

Logo is not syndication. It's merely butchering the shows you love. I'd suggest watching Alice on Antenna, probably the scenes Logo hacked out will be put back in on Antenna's versions.

That's all fine and dandy for everyone that is able to get the channel.

It is widely available across the US.

The same can be said about ION, Lifetime, USA, FX, and all the other channels that air reruns of shows. Syndication cuts the episodes for commercials. I don't care how good some may think Antenna is; nothing beats DVD sets to see the episode as it truly was. I haven't had cable in over a decade and never plan to have it again. DVD sets and services like Hulu and Netflix are the way to go. Plus you can skip those annoying animated on screen ads networks have on the bottom of the screen.

Doubtful. When ION was rerunning Alice, I watched a few episodes. Biggest waste of time ever. They cut the episodes down to like 20 or 18 minutes. Took out scenes that were crucial for viewers to know. Sitcoms that are over 25 minutes long are not meant for syndication anymore. Networks care more about advertising than what viewers want. It's pathetic. I don't know if ION is still around, but I haven't watched that channel since they did that to Alice.

Uh huh. Try getting it when you live on a farm that's on the outskirts of a town with a population of around 2000 people. It's not gonna happen!
