Default Wonder if that old lady in the opening credits still receives residuals?

During the opening credits of "The Wayans Bros." (its first two seasons), Shawn and Marlon volunteer to help an elderly woman cross the street. Unbeknownst to the old woman, a crosstown bus speeds towards her and before she has a chance to react, the bus plows into her like a wrecking ball and tosses her several dozen feet into the air. Luckily, she lands safely on a park bench, surprisingly uninjured and unscathed, while Shawn and Marlon look on from the back window of the aforementioned bus.

In the nearly two decades since I've been watching "The Wayans Bros." off and on (whether it's in off-network syndication or on cable networks like BET, MTV2, or VH1), I've always wondered if the actress who portrayed the unfortunate senior citizen still receives residuals for her performance. You'd think she'd be in the catbird seat, living comfortably in the lap of luxury--in her twilight years, of course--because of the royalties she's received from frequent airings in both off-network syndication and on cable (not to mention DVD sales).

What do you guys and gals think? Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from you! Enjoy your day!

Hi!

I’m actually her Great grandson! Her name was Verna Deckard Williams and she was in many of the Wayans Bros productions along with The Fresh Prince, Martin, SisterSister, etc. she started acting as a retirement hobby! We actually still get residuals sent to her estate. It’s usually no more than $5 hahaha. She had fun and lived a very interesting life until she passed away at 91 years old in 1998. Thanks so much for your curiosity and this question. I hope you get to see this answer

You're very welcome, RapsTrainer! I had no idea whatsoever she was your great-grandmother! And I'm totally surprised--not to mention completely blown away--by the fact that her estate still receives residuals to this very day, more than two decades after her death! Thank you for answering my question; it's been boggling my noggin for quite some time! Enjoy your day, bro!
