In 1990 Buena Vista Entertainment launched a game show called The Challengers that featured three contestants testing their knowledge of events and happenings in the news of the world. Starting with a round called The Sprint Round the contestant that did well in the round got to have control of the board that featured categories such as Famous George Bernard Shaw Plays to All About Alexander Graham Bell and so on. Every episode of The Challengers started off with a quote of the day with a smart message behind it. The Challengers was also a remake of a game show called The Who What When Or Why Game and is one of the most popular game shows of the 90's

I remember watching The Challengers and even trying out to become a contestant when I went to California during the show's run. It was Dick Clark's first game show since CBS cancelled The $25,000 Pyramid in 1988 in favor of Family Feud. One thing I remember about Clark hosting The Challengers is when a male contestant answered a question correctly, he would frequently say "You are right sir."

The show the previous poster was thinking of was The Who, What or Where Game (The 3Ws) which was produced by the show's co-producer Ron Greenberg. Art James was the host of a show that was the perfect companion to Jeopardy and one of several shows was cancelled by then NBC Vice President of Daytime Lin Bolen in 1974 in an effort to remake the network's game show lineup.
