Default ratings

I see that Days ratings haven't gone up yet with the new writers shows are airing. Sad. I see the top show Young and the Restless is at 3.0 thats low. I don't think we ever seen all shows under 3.0 before or ever. I remember the days when soaps got to 9.0 and above. Not anymore.

I honestly think the 4 remaining soaps will stay on at least 5 more years. Apparently the networks don't pay much attention to the soaps' ratings or they would've already cancelled them.

I hope "Days" stays on for a long time!

DAYS' ratings actually have been slowly going up since Ron took over. Before there were weeks where the weekly total viewer average was under 2 million. Now it's consistently over 2 million with some days getting pretty close to catching GH. It'll take time, and I agree that Will returning from the dead will definitely jumpstart it.

Those are just household ratings. Not exactly the same. Here's a much more detailed look at the ratings (and DAYS is now at a 1.6 in households): http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2017...w18-49-viewers

thank you for that. I could of swore they always said that Days was number 18 in the key demographic of 18-49 but that ain't the case on that site.

The slow death of the US soap has been well-documented. I was watching episodes of As the World Turns from the early-90s on YouTube and it brought back memories of when the soaps had interesting story lines and could afford to go on location to exotic destinations around the world! They could also afford to have practically the entire cast in an episode! Even the commercials made me feel nostalgic and pine for days long gone!

I can't even bring myself to watch a soap today. I've tried to watch Young and the Restless several times over the years (a show I NEVER missed BITD), and gave up after five minutes! The soaps seem to be a disjointed mess to me, and the budget cuts have left the writers (and actors) in the doldrums.

I was never a faithful viewer of DOOL, but I remember a time when it was extremely popular and had intriguing story lines and characters. At least I still have YouTube where I can go back to Oakdale, Springfield, Llanview & Pine Valley, where some amazing characters still live!

DOOL fans on another board I visit are excited that for the first time in a long, long time that they aren't last in the women 18-49 category. BB is.

The sad part is that the soaps that were cancelled in the past 2 decades are better than what is on today. I am a Day 1 BB viewer and that soap is done.

Now the remaining 4 get preferential treatment because now the networks don't want to cancel them since they have no alternative programming.

Not all viewers for advertisers are created equal, and the CBS soaps have been setting record lows for women viewers.
