Lol Beaver's Freckles

Pres Lincoln had a mole and everybody loved him. Except for the whole South Ward. What were you thinking? Every time Ward says that I think that not everybody loved Lincoln.

That is so true. There was never a statue erected to Lincoln in the south. Actually even though Lincoln was re-elected by a landslide, no electoral votes were counted from the eleven southern states of the CSA. Wonder how Ward knew that everyone loved Lincoln with the mole and all.

Speaking of Beaver's Freckles, there's a scene where Beaver asks Ward about freckles while he's working in the den. He tells Beaver about a kid who was in the Our Gang series (I know them as Little Rascals) and I think he's talking about Alfalfa. Ward tells Beaver about a freckle contest and everyone laughed at him. I don't recall any freckle contest with Alfalfa.

I watched the Little Rascals and no, I did not see a contest either.

I think Ward once referred to that war as "The War Between The States". I never heard that reference, I always heard "Civil War."

I've heard it referred to as "war between the states" too. Just like the Union and Confederates, blue and gray and Yankees and Rebs. Ken Burns' Civil War is one of the greatest documentaries on TV or anywhere.

Ward was referring to Mickey Daniels, and there was indeed a freckle counting contest, but it was in one of the silent shorts which was I don't think ever re run during the "Little Rascals" TV show- they only aired the talkies (as far as I know).

The episode was titled A Pleasant Journey., it predated Spanky, Alfalfa and that group by several years.

It can be found on Youtube.

Her red and white bow tie had more freckles than her face! Maybe that was what she was seeing in the mirror and thought it was her face!

I don't think I ever saw silent Our Gang shorts. I remember Mickey Daniels when he got older but never that young. He sure did have lots of freckles. I think lots of Little Rascals had freckles.

He looked a little like that Steve Wootton (Clyde Appleby), maybe what he would have looked like a few years younger. I think another thread said he has now died.

Mickey Daniels was way back born about 1914 and Stephen was born in the 40's.

Just to clarify, I was saying he looked a little like him, not that it was him.
