Back with another television network lineup to tweak, this time its CBS and their 1992 lineup of shows. CBS actually that year was the #1 network but aging shows, losing the NFL, and the reemergence of NBC would spell trouble for the network in the following years. In my opinion their lineup on paper really didn't stand out from the rest, so why not work some magic to an already decent lineup.
Original lineup CBS Saturday Night 800pm - Frannie's Turn 830pm - Brooklyn Bridge 900pm - Raven 1000pm - Angel Street CBS Sunday Night 700pm - 60 Minutes 800pm - Murder, She Wrote 900pm - The CBS Sunday Night Movie CBS Monday Night 800pm - Evening Shade 830pm - Hearts Afire 900pm - Murphy Brown 930pm - Love & War 1000pm - Northern Exposure CBS Tuesday Night 800pm - Rescue 911 900pm - The CBS Tuesday Night Movie CBS Wednesday Night 800pm - The Hat Squad 900pm - In the Heat of the Night 1000pm - 48 Hours CBS Thursday Night 800pm - Top Cops 900pm - Street Stories with Ed Bradley 1000pm - Knots Landing CBS Friday Night 800pm - The Golden Palace 830pm - Major Dad 900pm - Designing Women 930pm - Bob 1000pm - Picket Fences My version CBS Saturday Night 800pm - Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman 900pm - A League Of Their Own 930pm - Frannie's Turn 1000pm - 48 Hours CBS Sunday Night 700pm - 60 Minutes 800pm - Murder, She Wrote 900pm - The CBS Sunday Night Movie CBS Monday Night 800pm - Evening Shade 830pm - Hearts Afire 900pm - Murphy Brown 930pm - Love & War 1000pm - Northern Exposure CBS Tuesday Night 800pm - Rescue 911 900pm - The CBS Tuesday Night Movie CBS Wednesday Night 800pm - Designing Women 830pm - Good Advice 900pm - Knots Landing 1000pm - Angel Street CBS Thursday Night 800pm - Top Cops 900pm - Street Stories with Ed Bradley 1000pm - In The Heat Of The Night CBS Friday Night 800pm - Major Dad 830pm - Brooklyn Bridge 900pm - The Golden Palace 930pm - Bob 1000pm - Picket Fences |

I agree with putting Designing Women on Wednesdays. CBS really buried DW with that move to Fridays, especially coming off its best-rated season (where it ranked #6 during 1991-92 leading off of Murphy Brown). Under this scenario, Designing Women would have one more finish in the annual Nielsen Top-30 rankings (its average would be in the mid-to-lower 14s range), and it would be allowed to continue to at least 1993-94. Probably the same for Major Dad because it's on an anchor slot now, even though it's still on Fridays? Major Dad's average would probably be in the 12s range.
I do not agree with In the Heat of the Night and Knots Landing switching timeslots. Why take Knots Landing off its longtime Thursday at 10 perch? No need for that. The entire Thursday lineup on your fantasy schedule could have remained the same as it was in real life. So, in summary, Yay for putting Designing Women on Wednesdays, Nay for taking Knots Landing off Thursdays at 10. |

How about just Knots Landing 24/7?
