Default Was that Skipper on Season 2 visiting from Gilligan's Island?

A chunky blonde man comes to Mayberry to choose a wife. He keeps calling Barney "little buddy".

Is that the Skipper from Gilligan's Island? Did they do "crossovers" even then?

Thanks.

YUP! Sure was, and I forgot about that episode! Sounds like that was an early crossover, at least the "Little Buddy" reference!

Also, on the wiki page, Andy's father makes a cameo as a customer exiting the store! To Netflix to watch this one tonight!

God Bless,

Kevin

GILLIGAN'S ISLAND hadn't even been made yet, so it couldn't have been a crossover.

It also wouldn't make much sense story-wise. GI is kind of limited when it comes to crossovers since they're stranded on a deserted island. Maybe Andy and the gang could have stopped by the isle on vacation though. Imagine Barney and Gilligan in one place.

On another note I remember Bob Denver guest starred on TAGS the year before GI began; he was playing a friend of the Darlings or something.

The skipper visited on season 2, episode 13 so that was 1962.

Gilligan's Island didn't start until 1964. "Little Buddy" must have been just something he liked to say so they wrote it in each time.

Thanks all.

Bob played Charlene Darling's husband in the "Mountain Wedding" episode. He and Alan were the only two G.I. cast members who appeared on TAGS.

Bob was in "Divorce, Mountain Style." Sorry about the mistake.

Great stuff guys, really enjoying this thread! Neat trivia! We were out boating on the Mississippi River a few weekends ago, and people were talking about TAGS, and I brought up the fact that the Skipper had been on the show, people were mystified! I didnt realize that Bob Denver filled in as Dud later, that is a cool fact!
