Default Nickeldeon's upcoming show "I Am Frankie"

I don't know if anybody else is aware of this (its an adaptation of a Colombian show) but this may very likely be the closest thing out there to a "modern day" version of Small Wonder (i.e. a girl who is really a humanoid robot, trying to fit into everyday society).

NICKELODEON'S NEW DAILY SCRIPTED SERIES, "I AM FRANKIE," BOWS MONDAY,
SEPT. 11, AT 7:30 P.M. (ET/PT)

BURBANK, Calif. - Aug. 28, 2017 - A cutting edge, experimental android
navigates the perils and wonders of being a teenager in I Am Frankie,
Nickelodeon's newest serialized live-action show, debuting Monday,
Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). I Am Frankie tells the story of
Frankie Gaines (Alex Hook), who looks like any other human girl, but
harbors a big secret--she functions as a high-tech computer, complete
with internet access, extensive memory and more. The series premieres
daily, Monday through Friday, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

After escaping from tech company EGG Labs to avoid being used for evil
purposes, Frankie enrolls in high school in an attempt to pass as a
typical teenager. Despite having an inside full of wires and circuits,
Frankie begins to adapt well by bonding with her new best friend
Dayton (Nicole Alyse Nelson), juggling loads of homework and dealing
with boy crushes, all while keeping her true identity a secret.

Suspicion soon arises about Frankie, as popular girls Tammy (Mohana
Krishnan), Lucia (Uriel Baldesco) and Makayla (Kristi Beckett)
question her quick victory during a math competition. To complicate
things even further, Frankie's wiring goes haywire as she starts
experiencing human emotion, creating more challenges and adventurous
fun. How long can she keep her true identity a secret while
maintaining herself as a normal teenager?

Filmed in the new state-of-the-art Viacom International Studios in
Miami, I Am Frankie was originally produced as Yo Soy Franky by
Nickelodeon Latin America in Colombia. The series is created by
renowned Argentine writer Marcela Citterio. The English language
version is produced by Paradiso Pictures and Nickelodeon Latin
America.

I Am Frankie will sneak peek on Nickelodeon on Monday, Sept. 4, at 7
p.m. (ET/PT). Beginning Aug. 21, the premiere episode will be
available across all Nickelodeon platforms.

I Am Frankie will be distributed to Nickelodeon's global audiences
spanning 170+ countries and territories via the brand's more than 80
channels and branded blocks.

Wonder if she'll talk in a monotone like Vicki?

I've actually seen a few episodes, and from what I'm seeing, aside from certain characters like Dayton, Byron, and Will, it seems like almost everyone, kid and adult alike, is always passing around the "idiot ball" very frequently, practically both gaining and losing intelligence quotient points in almost every scene. I'm actually wondering, is this a conscious decision on the writers' part, or is it another symptom of what some people are saying about how Nickelodeon Group president Cyma Zarghami is running the network?

Well, after seeing the first new episode of this week, I'm now actually feeling quite humbled over what I said earlier. It seems that writers were actually writing it this way on purpose in order to fulfill a more successful story arc to be set up for a big payoff. All I know, is that from now on, if I see something in a movie or show that doesn't really seem to make sense, I'm just going to ignore it and just let it slide.

At the end of the season finale, Frankie's "evil twin" (a la Vanessa on Small Wonder) is introduced, creating another cliffhanger.

Have you ever randomly remembered a show and thought… “wait, what even happened to that?”

That’s exactly what I Am Frankie feels like. A Nickelodeon series about a teenage android trying to live a normal life while hiding a huge secret and somehow, it just disappeared after only two seasons.

In this video, we’re breaking down what the show was about, the main characters, and the real reasons it didn’t last as long as it could have. Because I Am Frankie wasn’t a bad idea at all… it just never got the chance to fully grow.
