Default Football on Antenna TV??!

I just turned on Antenna TV and football is playing. Something called "Dolphins Weekly Live" and CBS commercials are playing. It should be Dennis the Menace according to the Antenna TV schedule. Is Antenna TV supposed to be showing this or have I lost the channel?! I have never seen football playing on this station...nor do I want to.

I didn't know about that. It's very odd and something i've never seen happen. But it only played for 30 minutes and Bewitched came on at noon with regular programming the rest of the day.

I come to Antenna TV to get AWAY from modern television programming. It sucks they have the right to cut into that when they please.

Affiliates have the right to pre-empt network programming (it's probably written into the contract). A lot of people think Antenna and MeTV are cable channels, but in reality they are digital networks that are marketed to local stations, which use them for their digital sub-channels (For example, 13.1 is the main channel, 13.2 is designated as Antenna, etc.). When the local station bargains with cable companies, they sometimes are able to get the cable company to pick up their sub-channels (on a totally different channel number). And sometimes the local station will pre-empt the network (Antenna) program, with their news, paid programming, or, like this, sports. Also, sometimes the main local station will air a special program in place of a regular program, and then place the regular program (one time basis) on the sub-channel, pre-empting Antenna, MeTV, etc.

Or maybe the connection to Antenna was temporarily lost, so they just switched to the main channel programming. That happened one time with my local channel that used to carry Antenna; one day they suddenly had religious programming from their "point 3" station. The next day, Antenna was back. It was weird.

That depends on the affiliate for both Me-TV and Antenna TV. The good ones will air 100% of the lineup but unfortunately they are not required to. Sonny from this board has mentioned his Me-TV affiliate often being preempted.

Me TV here in Louisville airs local news from 7am to 8am and from 10pm to 10:30pm while our Antenna TV station has no pre-empting at all.

WTHR locally preempts Twilight Zone on MeTV, for a news repeat, and a few other programs. They also have Cozi TV and do a lot more preempting on that, like whatever is on at 7 pm, just to re-air a Dr. Phil that they already show on the main channel at 4 pm. They also do their paid programming on there, early in the am.

WXIN locally has Antenna TV, and does not preempt that. They also have THIS TV, and used to to preempt hours on end in the morning, just to simulcast their news. They'd even cut off movies that had already started.

that depends on the affiliate, our ME TV affiliate pre-empts part of the ME TV schedule in the early morning.
