Nick Jr. aired a cartoon that was based on a series of books written by a Dutch author called The Adventures Of David The Gnome and featured David The Gnome and his wife Lisa going on fun adventures with the assistance of their pet fox Swift. The Adventures Of David The Gnome also featured British actor Christopher Plummer as the narrator and Happy Days star Tom Bosley provided the voice of David The Gnome and was produced by an animation company named Cinar. It would be nice if Nickelodeon would create a Nick Jr. Classic channel so their classic cartoons such as David The Gnome would be seen again

This was produced by a Spanish company and Nickelodeon only had the rights to broadcast. They no longer have rights to David the Gnome.

It was an excellent animated series. Wonderful artwork.
And speaking of wonderful artwork, I have the book Gnomes ( Leven en werken van de kabouter). Illustrated by Rien Poortvliet and written by Wil Huygen. One of the books Dave The Gnome came from. It's written like a text book. There's also the 1980 animated film Gnomes, which is also based on the book. I originally came across the book in my late teens when I was house sitting for a friend's parents. I had seen the series years before that but didn't realize it was based on the book. A couple of years after that I found the book at Powell's and bought it. My daughter loved the book, and the series when she was younger. |
