Default revival

do you think a revival of this show would work? I don't-they'd just ruin it by inserting a lot of lame sex jokes and situations to appeal to younger audiences.

I'd agree, for the reason you stated. But also, most of the cast is unfortunately gone, and I don't think many people would want a show where someone else played Andy, Barney, etc.

I really hope they leave this one alone.

I agree with the above sentiment. There's practically no way they could pull it off.

They probably could pull it off with computer generated holograms. That way
they would have all the characters, with old or new scripts. There are music
computer generated holograms concerts that go on tour.

I'll pass. I think if/once we transfer into computer generated humans on the screen, I'm done with movies, TV, whatever.

It would probably just be another one of those shows that lasts for one season, gets cancelled, and the network that aired it tries to make everyone forget about it

That's a bit frightening to be honest. It might be an interesting experiment, but I can say with certainty I wouldn't be able to enjoy a show like that.

I know it sounds bizarre, but you can't rule it out! Because as technology
advances, you probably, in the future won't be able to detect a difference.

They can get close, but they can never get the eyes to look right. And that's a good thing; there is a qualitative difference between a living human being and a computer generated simulation, and it's a GOOD thing that we CAN tell the difference.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I honestly don't want to live in a world where people can't tell the difference. Because that really implies a world where people aren't needed...at all.

Retro, I totally understand where you are coming from but eventually they
"WILL get those eyes right". I recently read where we are approaching the
LAST generation where man will be smarter than computers. That's a pro-
vocative thought. What kind of world will that be? I don't know. But that's
the world we live in. An explosion of information! No way to stop it. Would
you want to?

This has gone from frightening to terrifying. I may be old-fashioned, but I have to draw the line somewhere. You can make a CGI-animated show, and you can make a live-action show, but if you make a CGI show so accurate and detailed you can't tell it's CGI, that opens the door to absolute chaos. The world will no longer need people to function. This will be the end of civilization as we know it. Computers smarter than men? It has to stop. The world, our human society, will not survive.

No, they may never 'get the eyes right' because there ARE things that machines can't duplicate; like emotions, like inspiration, like a soul.

Would I want to stop what will inevitably the end of the human race, if not literally, at least as an evolving species that thinks and acts for itself?

Absolutely. Wouldn't you?

Wink

Suddenly, I feel like I'm being attacked! Don't shoot the messenger.
I'm just posting what I know, see, and read! I would suggest that everyone
do their own research . . research supercomputers . . .research Silicone
Valley's research and development and see what they are already able to do
and their projected plans for the future. It's not all gloom and doom,
esp. with healthcare and disease control. Artificial Intelligence and machine
learning have already given us drones, Echo/Alexis, and self-driving cars, to
name a few. These innovations are going to be game changers, not only with major industries but eventually in our own lives, ie self-driving cars.
Self-driving cars are going to allow senior citizens, to be independent much
longer, than if they had to drive on their own. That's a good thing! With
new technology, new laws and regulations will have to be written. There
will absolutely be ethical issues! But I believe future generations will solve
these things. So, please, don't attack me. I'm still wrapping my mind
around ALL of this!

better be quiet, or someone reading this thread might get the idea to actually try it.
