Was Mike right to tell Archie?

In the episode in which Edith feared she had cancer, there was a scene in which Gloria and Edith were talking about it in one room and Edith wanted to keep it a secret from Archie, and Mike was in the other room and overheard the discussion and went on to tell Archie, though not so directly.

Though Mike had certain dislikeable qualities to him in various ways, I thought it was uncharacteristic of him to be a tattle tale and not be understanding about Edith's need to keep it a secret until she herself was ready to tell Archie. It seemed Mike should have and would have felt that he is meddling and taking it upon himself to be "Big Brother-ish" and invading someone's privacy by speeding the word without Edith and Gloria knowing that he did such a thing.

I need to rewatch the episode... Edith was planning to tell him, and would have had the results came back positive. Mike wasn't in the right, especially if it's just a fear and nothing confirmed and not discussing with Edith the importance of telling something to a loved one sooner rather than later. It sounds like he meant will, but it wasn't optimal interpersonal protocol.
