Default Where I've been

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted much since last week. There's a reason why. Last Friday, my mom fell in the bathroom. She was admitted to the hospital and was discharged today but when to Smilow Cancer hospital tonight. What happened was is she had blood clots in her legs and there making sure they don't go into her lungs and heart. Now, the reason this happened was because she was moving around and walking. But the thing is, she couldn't because she was in constant pain because she needed double hip surgery. She WILL come home, it's just from all the tests and moving around, it's a real pain in the ass.

Hi mets82:

Sorry to hear of your mom's health concerns.

My mom also had a blood clot, in 2012. She later broke her hip that summer and had the replacement surgery. Anyway, since your mom likely is now on blood thinner meds, I wanted to mention to you that it's important for her to avoid any kind of minor cuts or scrapes, because it's more difficult to stop the bleeding. And just as importantly, don't give her aspirin without doctor's approval (usually they would have her take Tylenol instead).

Best wishes and I know what you're going through -- the recovery process takes time.

My mother had surgery this morning. It was supposed to be an hour and half to two hrs. but went 5. She had cancer near her bladder and uterus, I think. The good news is they took the cancer out and she's in the ICU. The doctor was pleased and so am I.☺☺☺☺

My mother is 97, lives alone (and still wants to), and has fallen a few times.

Wishes and prayers that your mother has had a successful surgery and is on the road to full recovery.

Wow, 97? Props to her. I live with my mother who has Alzheimer's and wish she could possibly live to be that age.
