I can understand that Barbra Jean grew on Kyra, since stepparents are known to do that. However, I don't really understand the animosity between her and her dad at the start of the show, before she suddenly wants to move in with him in Season 2. Off the top of my head, "Tea and Antipathy" and "You May Kick the Bride" are two episodes where it doesn't seem like she likes him. In the first, the two are very awkward together, and Brock doesn't seem to like her either. In the second, she outright refuses to attend his wedding, and blames him for the divorce (she doesn't want him to have a second chance at happiness). When did she start liking her dad? Was it just Cheyenne and Van that made her want to move out?

^^^ To me, Kyra only went to her dad to get away from Cheyenne which in my opinion wasn't that much different considering the fact that he is no different compared to Cheyenne.
God bless you always!!! Holly |

She seems to just move out because Cheyenne was getting all the attention and she felt she was somewhat being ignored and taking a back seat to her. At one point she tells Reba she thinks her dad has issues with her and doesn't like her though.

With Tea and Antipathy it wasn't so much about Kyra not wanting to spend time with Brock, she just didn't want to do the things Reba wanted her to do with him, and Brock wasn't happy at the tea place either. At the end they both just decided it was better for both of them to do their own things.
As for the second one, as mentioned in other episodes, Brock did put his family through a lot of stress, first with his mid-life crisis, then with getting into constant arguments with Reba leading to their eventual separation and divorce. So yeah not surprised that Kyra still holds some resentment towards him over the family breaking up. |
