Default John Heard dead at 72: Home Alone star dies in California hotel room

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrit...-dead-10851162

Home Alone star John Heard has died at the age of 72.

The star was found dead in a hotel room in Palo Alto, California, on Friday, according to TMZ.

A family source told the website that Heard was found dead by the hotel maid service.

Police were called to the hotel after reports of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The coroner is reported to be investigating the cause of death, which is unknown at this time.

TMZ also reports that Heard had "minor back surgery" on Wednesday and was staying at the hotel while he recovered, according to his rep.

Heard is best known for his role as Peter McCallister, the dad in the Home Alone movies.

Had seen him before, but really became a fan with "Heart Beat", "Cat People", and "The Trip to Bountiful". A really, really good actor.

Sad

I'm currently watching Home Alone, after that I'm watching Home Alone 2, my latest "tribute to a fallen star" John Heard.

For whatever reason I took an instant dislike to him. He was good in some movies where his character was unlikable, like Big. I never saw Home Alone nor do I have any interest in seeing it. Heard also had a history of being accused of stalking and beating his girlfriends.

The first time that I saw John Heard was in " The Scarlet Letter"(made for PBS 1979) I thought he was very hot. That version of The Scarlet Letter was very true to the original novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Not like that travesty that Demi Moore starred in back in the 1990's.

He was at one time married to Margot Kidder "Superman The Movie". I too read that she and other women had been abused by him. The truth? I don't know. The only thing that I do know is that as an actor he was very good. He also played Kate's ex husband on an episode of Kate And Allie.

May he rest in peace.

I feel that John Heard was the unsung guys in Hollywood...almost like Ray Liotta or Dolph Sweet.
