Exclamation Linkin Park Frontman Chester Bennington 1976-2017 (Suicide)

Link

The Los Angeles County coroner says Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who sold millions of albums with a unique mix of hard rock, hip-hop and rap, was found dead in his home near Los Angeles on Thursday. He was 41.

Coroner spokesman Brian Elias says they are investigating Bennington's death as an apparent suicide but no additional details are available.

The group sold 10 million copies of their 2000 debut, "Hybrid Theory," and then another 4 million with 2003's multiplatinum "Meteora." Both albums explored feelings of frustration and fury.

Bennington, who sported piercings and tattoos, struggled with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life. He was married and is survived by six children.

Sad RIP Chester Bennington.

Thanks for clearing up my post with the link above. I just didn't have the energy to do it!

This has almost been a year that repeated last year with rock and roll deaths. Many of these rockers have too many pressures that seem insurmountable.

Linkin Park was a band that managed to reinvent itself a few times and refused to be pigeonholed as another NU-metal band.

It was pretty impressive to hear "One Step Closer" in 2001.

Sad RIP Chester Bennington.

Thanks for clarifying my post above. I just didn't have the energy to do it!

It is a tragic repeat of last year, almost, when too many rockers find their problems too insurmountable and take suicide as the way out.

Linkin Park was interesting in that they were able to reinvent themselves often and not be pigeonholed as another typical NU-metal band.

The song "One Step Closer" was always impressive.

I wonder if it (the suicide) was meant to happen on Chris Cornell's birthday (7/20).

It's been reported he's been very distraught over Chris Cornell's death as they were very close.

I sure bet that Chris Cornell had something to do with it.

I basically put a brief sentence or two about his death with the Blabbermouth.net link, but when I came back to it a while later, it was expanded with a fuller obituary. I think a moderator clarified it. I hadn't expanded on it the first time.

The fact that this happened on Chris Cornell's birthday and in the same way makes me think this was a copycat suicide.

I'm still thinking that Cornell's death had to do with too large of a dose of Ativan (or whatever was the name of the drug) and that it affected his judgment. It's like a lot of those warnings you see on pharmaceutical commercials saying, "use of this product may cause suicidal depression, etc." They say he "wasn't" suicidal, but it's possible he WAS dealing with personal demons after all this time. It's hard to tell.

Does anyone know what caused him to take his own life?

I'm not sure, but the fact that he was close to Chris Cornell appears to have a lot to do with it, as he took his life on Cornell's birthday and in the same manner as he did. But no one seems to be sure exactly why.
