Default The real Mayor of Raytown proclaims July 19th Vicki Lawrence/"Mama's Family" Day!

Check it out right here! And note her adorable facial expressions as she listens to the proclamation! (it would have been cute if Alan Oppenheimer as Mayor Tutweiler could have been there as well, lol)

Congratulations Vicki and Mama!! You have your very own day!

So does this mean that Mama's Family was set in MO. The long lived question is finally solved?

Yes. Vicki confirmed this in an audio interview with Frank DeCaro when Mama's Family came out on DVD in 2013. A fan called in and said he noticed Mama's car ("I'm gonna call her Blue Thunder!") had a MO license plate, and he asked her "Can you either confirm or deny" (lol) that Raytown was set in Missouri. And she said yes.

Now in a news interview on YouTube she mistakenly says Kansas, but it is MO.

I think July 19 is Beverly Archer's birthday

A character in one episode references Cinncinnati in a context making it seem to be very close to Raytown. In my mind, that set the show in that part of eastern Kentucky that borders on Ohio - the citizens of Raytown could still have their Southern accents, but be close to Cinncinnati. Natives of Ohio have claimed that when you get to the southern border, the Southern accent starts filtering in...

I live in Columbus and can confirm that as fact. Heck, there are people right here in Columbus who sound like they might as well be from the South. Lots of people here have Kentucky and West Virginia ancestors or have moved here in recent generations.
As for the Cincinnati mention, I don't remember that. I am sure as an Ohioan, I would have noticed any mention of a town in my state, but that also doesn't mean it never happened.

Cincinatti was never mentioned on the show. If it was indirectly referenced, I am curious to know what the line of dialogue is.

After all, Vicki confirmed the show took place in Raytown, MO.
