Default Poor Barbara Wrongly Punished

I was watching an episode where Barbara talks about getting in trouble because Julie put apple cores in the clothes basket and Ann thought it was Barbara. Ann spanked Barbara. Barbara was 7 years old. I knows its silly but I couldn't help but feel sorry for Barbara. She not only got blamed but got punished. Why would the young Barbara not rat on Julie? All those years had passed and Ann never knew until then that she had punished the wrong kid. Julie let Barbara take the rap. Can you imagine how scary Ann was when you are only 7? Why wouldn't Barbara defend herself?

Julie is in the room too and smiles and says I guess it wouldn't hurt to admit it now. I wonder why Ann thought it was Barbara who did it. I'm sure Ann was hopping mad to find apple cores in with the clean clothes. Poor little Barbara.

I forgot to answer this part. I'll throw out 2 hypothesis:

-Barbara was more afraid of big sister Julie than of Ann

-Barbara idolized big sister Julie and was willing to take the blame

Good hypotheses. I think the first one is most likely. Julie might have threatened Barbara but I would be scared of Ann too. She had a temper and probably didnt spank lightly

Barbara craved the attention Julie got so she took the blame for that reason.

Remember how she pretended to be on the pill? How she gambled and ran away?

She was looking for attention and she got it.

A spanking might not have been what she was looking for

Barbara got back at Julie the next year. There is a scene in the episode "Barbara's Friend" where Ann and Barbara are talking outside the waiting room at the hospital after Melanie has attempted suicide. Barbara is feeling guilty and even admits to some childhood antics. She admits that when she was 8 years old she started a fire in the toilet bowl and blamed Julie! Remember this? I expect Julie got in bad trouble too because remember how Ann, even though it had been years ago, started lecturing Barbara on playing with fire? If Ann got mad all those years later, you better believe she was mad at the time! Playing with fire would certainly be something that Ann would have spanked for. Also, remember in "Julie's Operation" when Barbara admits to stabbing Julie teddy bear? Barbara wasn't so innocent!! She may have gotten that one unjust spanking, but I bet she got away with a lot more!

She even admitted that because she was so genetically blessed that she got away with murder and she liked it!

Well, at least she was honest about it.

I hope that was the only time she got punished wrongly. Poor Barbara, sweet little girl that Ann beat. Ann was always beating her children, she slapped the fire out of Julie Ann was a child abuser

I wouldn't go quite that far but she did seem to have anger issues. We used to have this poster named JulieTX who posted clips of Ann slapping people.

Here is one of her classic slaps.

Ann slapped the **** out of Julie! she would have tanned Barbara's hide with that same hand, unless she used a belt or something
